This restaurant is clearly one of the best place in the area. Whenever I come to this place I am awfully glad. They always keep their high standard service and the topmost level of food they give. You are always happy with this restaurant. Very recommended.

Very elegant and convenient restaurant. They serve big meals and for economical rates. I loved the food very much and the staff members were very attentive and explanatory. Will definitely recommend this spot.

Love it, love Jenny, excellent and fresh sushi. I like the salad trio and lemon roll, but chef's choice option is great if you want a meal curated by those who know their sushi better than you. My favorite sushi option in Eureka.

Loved the food. Only 1 server so it was a bit slow. She is really great however. The fish was very fresh. I recommend the pickled cucumber salad. It is so tasty.

I hate leaving bad reviews. But, here we go...we hadn't been to Kyoto in quite some time. In my mind it was always the best sushi restaurant in Eureka. We usually just go to Hana because it seems more accessible. Well last night we decided to go to Kyoto. As far as service, the server was fine except he never returned to ask us how our food was or if we wanted to replenish our large sake. The overall problem was the food. It was underwhelming and flavorless. The two items we enjoyed the most were the miso soup which could've used a little more seasoning and the green dragon roll. Everyone agreed at the table that that was the best thing that we had. The main problem was the Wagu Kobe steak that I ordered. It was nothing like it was described on the menu. It was a very expensive dish and looked and tasted like beef jerky with a side of old rice. Very disappointing! My husband ordered the traditional Japanese soup and said it was bland. The tempura prawns and vegetables seemed ok until we got to the bottom of the pile of vegetables which were under cooked and stuck together. Overall, It was very disappointing and sad dinner. Long story short, we won't be back. If you are reading this review and decide to give them a try, I hope your experience is better than ours.

A little confusing at the front door long dirty hallway leads to very nice sushi bar with friendly staff. The sushi was excellent a little pricey but worth it I recommend the scallops or the Tempura yams .I'll definitely return to see if they're consistent

This was the go to Japanese restaurant in the past. This visit was mediocre. Was disappointed.

Although not quick, this was amazing sushi. It’s quite small and reservations are highly recommended to get a table when you want. Vegetarian gyoza were incredible!

Kyoto use to by one of my favorite spots for sushi. My recently experience I waited 45 minutes for 1 roll. I asked for it to go after waiting 30 minutes. 45 minutes for one roll. Not my cup of tea.

I'm so sad to be leaving this review. Kyoto has been a good restaurant for years, but today was amazingly bad. We should have known something was up when another patron got up to complain that the two people at their table had been waiting 45 minutes for their order, and were loudly told that sushi isn't fast food and it takes time to prepare. Yikes. It wasn't even crowded at that time. We waited over an hour for our first roll to arrive and the quality of the rice and fish was far below what it has been in the past. Last to arrive were two pair of the worst nigiri sushi I've ever seen along with the bill. We were faced with gummy balls of old rice topped with crudely cut stiff slabs of fish. They were just gross. We had to hunt down the waitress to ask to remove the uneaten food and pay the remaining bill. She said she would take the two pair off but came back having run my card after removing only one pair. It finally got resolved, but this was a really terrible experience. I hope that Kyoto can turn it around, but I don't think I'll be risking it again any time soon.

All of the vegetarian rolls I got were delicious, great way to start out if you’re a beginner with sushi or vegetarian! Two thumbs up

We’ve been coming to Eureka for years and just found this gem of a Japanese Restaurant by chance. I ordered the Tempura dinner with the Dragon Sushi Roll for take out it was the best I’ve had in years. The presentation was beautiful on the sushi roll plus a flower design (this on a take out, Wow!) Waiting time was longer than I was told, but well worth the wait. Good thing I ignored a few bad reviews on Yelp! This will be my go to place!

This is usually one of my favorite sushi spots but on Tuesday I was very disappointed. It was my daughter's birthday and we got to the restaurant at about ten to 6. We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table which is understandable and we did wait in the hallway for that long-at least-we finally got a table and had to wait a half hour before we got water and any service. The waitress was way over accommodating for every other table she gave them free food for their wait but forgot our soup. I also mentioned it was my daughter's birthday and usually their is at least mochi for the birthday person but we didn't get that either. The food was okay and the waitress seems like a nice person but definitely can't handle a dinner rush hour.
