Super cool vibes. A fundraiser for the Kinetic Grand Championship involving karaoke was going on. Ate some amazing sliders, the board of the day, and a brownie ala mode! All delicious with plenty of leftovers even though a few people were munching on the goodies. What a delightful spot.

Emily and Cheyenne were fantastic bartenders who made sure everyone was okay. They even cleaned up a mess so quickly that barely anyone noticed that another patron had knocked their drink over due to dancing exuberyummiest!

Great space, will be back to enjoy the atmosphere as a patron.

I had a great experience!! I am staying in this special hotel the bar/restaurant is located in. The receptionist told me I might be able to bring my dog. Ben, who served me, treated my dog like a special guest! She got towels to lie on! (She loved it) and water. I got a custom made warm cocktail with brandy and the athnosphere, music, other guest, .. everything was just most lovely and cozy and warm hearted. As to the food, I enjoyed it! I had Hawaiian burgers with chicken and Parmesan and a tomato soup, and was very happy with me protein oriented healthy - good idea dish. I warmly recommend coming here!!! Don’t miss out! It’s a very special place. I will come back any time. 🙏

After going there multiple times along the years and enjoying the food, It's not the same as it used to be at all!!
The food is LOW GRADE with high prices and horrifically an unjustified disrespectful attitude by the waiter staff. It doesn't worth the money anymore. Come for the drinks DO NOT EAT THERE guarantee you will be disappointed.

I’ve been dining out in Humboldt County for over 50 years and had always considered this restaurant to be one of the better places. However, my recent experience left me humiliated and deeply disappointed. While the drinks were as excellent as always, the food and service were unacceptable.

The young lady in our group, who was celebrating her birthday, ordered the oysters. All 12 of them were riddled with shell residue, making them nearly inedible, and the cucumbers served on the side were clearly spoiled—either frozen or rotten. Later, I ordered a dish that turned out to be far too hot and spicy, something the staff completely failed to warn me about when I asked for recommendations. I have digestive issues and couldn’t eat more than a bite or two.

The young lady, seeing my discomfort, politely brought the issue to the bartender’s attention. The bartender, who was very kind, decided on her own to remove the dish from the bill. I never requested that—it was entirely her decision. However, when she discussed this with the male waiter—possibly a manager—he mocked us in the corner with her, laughing as if we were the problem.

Later, I noticed they had forgotten to apply the $5 happy hour discount to the oysters, so I politely asked if they could correct the mistake. Instead of simply fixing it, the male waiter became vindictive and disrespectful. While they eventually removed the $5, he then added back half the cost of my dish, which the bartender had already removed. His justification? “Because you ate it.” This was insulting and absurd. I barely touched the dish, and the young lady only ate a small portion because it was already on the table.

The male waiter’s behavior was the worst part of this experience. He was rude, unprofessional, and took our simple request for a correction personally. He seemed intent on punishing us for asking about the happy hour discount, and his mocking, vindictive attitude completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory evening for the young lady. Despite her attempts to de-escalate the situation, I left feeling humiliated and unwelcome.

While the bartender showed kindness and the drinks were wonderful, the poor food quality and the male waiter’s rude, vindictive behavior overshadowed everything else. After 40 years of dining out in Humboldt County, this was one of the most humiliating experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend this restaurant and would advise others to be cautious.

Great time at this establishment. Emily was very friendly and fun! They seemed to be low stocked on some ingredients but Emily worked hard to execute very tasty beverages on the fly to accommodate our requests! Next time we are in town we will definitely return! Thank you Emily for making our evening!!

We had a WONDERFUL time! Emily, the bartender, is the best. Hands down. Fun atmosphere in a historic building with so much charm! If you’re a literature fan? Even better! 11/10 Recommend!

Visiting from out of town, went into the bar at 8:15 and there was a handful of people. Waited at the bar for about 10 minutes until we decided to sit down as no one had acknowledged me and my daughter. We sat at a table for another 10 minutes until my daughter, who has served at many restaurants and usually has a lot of patience for service workers, got fed up and stood at the bar to get some acknowledgment. The blonde woman at the bar finally looked at her and said ‘We’ll be right with you’. She sat back down and we waited for yet another 10 minutes while the blonde woman and the other man working continued to talk and serve other patrons who already had a drink in front of them. Finally we got so fed up and left after wasting 30 minutes inside the establishment, being rudely ignored. My daughter told me it was service 101 to at least acknowledge new patrons that enter the building, and even she was upset at the terrible service. If it was busy I would’ve have some compassion, but with the minimal amount of people and the obvious lack of interest in our patronage we couldn’t help but feel slighted and upset at the poor service. I hope anyone else visiting town doesn’t waste their time at this bar and goes to any of the other local bars in town that will be welcoming and interested in your business. This is the first bad review I’ve ever given any business, but I believe the bartenders on this night deserved it. I plea with the owners to speak to your staff and ask them to acknowledge people who enter the bar if you want to stay in business. Thank you.

I really love the place and ambience, as it’s in the old eagle house. The nibbles and drinks are a bit pricey but they are worth the lounge experience.I wasn’t too happy about the wait, specifically in regard to having to pay. Granted, I came in at a busy night but the lack of crowd control for the bar is definitely not it. You have people cutting in front of you or just surrounding the bar at all angles, not forming a linear system whatsoever. It turned me off how when I got to the bar, none of the immediate staff knew how to redeem the parlor’s gift certificate. A bit disappointed, I’m hoping to come back on a better date.
