I drive a semi across the lower 48 and I love barbecue. California has very good food—Mexican, seafood, Asian are all as good here as you’ll find anywhere—but barbecue? Not so much. Shamus is easily the best around and quite good. Not the best I’ve had and not very consistent on their top dollar items—I’ve had four Rib Eye steaks; 3 were quite good, one was gristly and poorly seasoned—but their skewers are the best I’ve had, their ribs are very good, their asparagus is enough to make a carnivore vegetarian and their artichoke is top tier. Their tri-tip I have to say was disappointing but I have impossible standards from a CDF Division chief with a backyard barbecue that would stop traffic.
So it’s hit or miss but you’re paying for hit. So I cook my ribeye at home but I get their three item combo and at least two of those are skewers (and one skewer is plenty of food). It’s a great restaurant but not consistently great.

Best food I have had in a while. Catch of the day was great. First time trying artichoke and the cook grilled it to where I am willing to eat it now.

Honestly went there to see the Tesla Coil because my son is obsessed with all things engineering. But the whole experience was a disappointment. My pasta dish was very salty and the brisket was flavorless. I am happy to pay more for great tasting food but suddenly felt like I was paying for the ambiance (which with the sunset was nice) over the food and service. The meal was a disappointment and the brief Tesla Coil demonstration was not worth it. We did enjoy the corn bread at the beginning of the meal. Better to go to Kristina's or Adel's for delicious food and great service

Great atmosphere in here! We come for our anniversary and had the porterhouse steak and filet, everything was delicious, the creamy garlic mash potatoes I could live off those! Service was fast and friendly. We chose to sit in the bar area, but at a table.

Great food, we happened to be there during a wedding, they ran out of tri-tip, and service was slow. Our Server was put in the position of having to apologize over and over. I would give them another try. The food was really worth a second chance.

Our first time dining here. Traveling on business and in the mood for a steak dinner. The food was delicious. Grilled artichoke appetizer had a perfect smoky, garlic flavor. Our steaks were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. We loved the rustic atmosphere
Service was great. We we definitely be back on our next business trip!

I was expecting a better experience. They might have been understaffed that day. It took a long time in between ordering and receiving our food. The restaurant was quirky and had some eye catching memorabilia but the music was too loud. The food was good.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Dinner with Nikola Tesla (Almost)”
If you’ve ever dreamed of eating a perfectly good steak while being lightly electrocuted by the spirit of Nikola Tesla, Shamus T Bones is your place. We walked in expecting a nice meal and maybe some country music, but instead we got a full-scale lightning spectacle in the middle of dinner. I swear I could feel the ghost of Tesla himself hovering over our table, whispering “Don’t touch the forks during the show.”
The electric display is like a rock concert, a science fair, and a mad scientist’s basement had a baby—and somehow, it totally works. My baked potato was trembling in awe. My drink was vibrating (possibly from the bass, possibly from residual static charge), and I’m pretty sure I left with a faint superpower.
Between bites of ribs, you’ll find yourself thinking, “Is this dinner… or am I part of a secret experiment?” Either way, 10/10. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys good food, atmospheric chaos, and the faint possibility of time travel.
Been here twice, food was bad both times. Second time all my food was swimming in some liquid, Gave them too chances, never going back.
The best steaks around

What a great find! Walked from our hotel. Great fun atmosphere, and good service. Had the exquisite salad bar with a side of beef. They run a Tesla electrifying test at times and that's cool to watch. Great place for kids.
Ordering a New York steak at a market price of $43.99 left me with high expectations that weren’t quite fulfilled. The steak lacked seasoning, except for simple salt and pepper, and was overshadowed by the strong Smokey flavoring. The vegetables included in the meal were also overcooked, making most of their flavors inedible. Despite the long wait times, the experience left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied. If you enjoy Smokey, low-seasoned steaks, this might be a good recommendation. However, if you prefer more flavor, it might be better to cook your own steak at home. Overall, I’d rate this experience 6/10.
