We came here a couple times when they first opened. Original owners. Pizza oven wasn’t functioning yet. Food was good. But then the owners sold it or sold their half and some new owner came in and ever since then it’s gone down hill. We’ve gone in twice so far and each time the pizza guy is off or oven isn’t working. Even on a Saturday!! Wine is always warm. Don’t plan on going back any time soon.

Best food in Fairfield. Best Lasagna I have ever had

Overpriced for the quality. Not bad, just not great. Nothing was outright wrong, I can just get so much tastier Italian food for the same prices elsewhere.

The food is good. I think they should take advantage of their pizza oven and make the bread in house. What they are using tastes like low end wonder bread. The food itself was delicious. The wine selection could be a bit larger too considering they say it is a restaurant and wine bar.

Best Italian Spot in the City, heck maybe even the county

I'm being generous with three stars. The food is average at best, and it's way overpriced. I have been coming to this restaurant when it first opened, when it was called Trattoria Martone. The then chef and owner Cosimo Martone cooked in the kitchen, and Angelo from Naples, Italy was the pizza chef. He made the dough himself, and it was obvious he was passionate about pizza, and knew what he was doing. The pizza WAS(past tense emphasized) so good I literally told all my friends and everyone else I ran into. Everyone I took there raved about the pizza. I would say it was about the top three best I had ever had. Then things changed. Angelo went back to Italy, and the guy that replaced him was nowhere near as good. The quality of the pizza went downhill fast. I took before and after photos (night and day) to show the owner. Then the ownership changed to three different people, as Cosimo previously owned the restaurant with his wife, then she left, and Cosimo became a one third owner. Cosimo left the business in September, and the name Changed, and now it is a completely different restaurant. I came back two separate times to give the pizza another try. From the best crust, moist and flavorful, very cheesy, with lots of sauce, to now average crust, dry and lacking sauce, lacking much cheese, and overall a very average pizza. They have the best pizza oven on the planet, but the new owner obviously doesn't know what he's doing. The current pizza is terrible. I've included two photos of the veggie pizza. One is from the old restaurant when the pizza was great, and one is from today's present restaurant. I'm sure you can figure out which is which. I will never go back unless things change, and I'm not holding my breath on that. Unless things do change, I predict they will go out of business in the near future. Stay away from this over priced average food restaurant.

Although the hospitality in the service was good ? starting with the white sliced bread I was disappointed where's the real French Italian bread? My butternut squash raviolis were hard and very tacky to eat the food was cold ? the gelato ice cream was good. For $120 for two people I was dissatisfied I will not be returning

Something is not right. Went there tonight, heard good things and was completely disappointed. $150 bill for two people with basic italian food being served. Started with Bread that was ordinary sliced bread, food portions were small and taste mediocre. Personally felt like they were charging for higher end dining yet no experience to go with it. Menus were laminated plastic that felt like panda express menu

This review is more like a 3.8. Customer service was impeccable!! Food presentation was good. I was impressed with the menu, overall nice selection.I love how they give you the option of several pastas and option of several sauces with the possibility of adding chicken, shrimp or salmon. Unfortunately I have mixed feelings about the food. The Caesar & Mediterranea salads were tasty and good portions. Also- I have to admit the pasta I ordered, was great! I had the "Pasta your way" fettuccine with creamy tomato! Just what I imagined. On the other hand -the Pollo Alla Senape E Funghi, not so good. The chicken lacked flavor and tasted like it came out of a freezer bag. Of course, a personal preference but bone in w/ some seasoning would have brought more flavor to the dish. The short ribs also lacked enough flavor and juice. Sure the juice was on the plate, but still I wasn't impressed. I had to wipe the plate to get the juice on the short rib to enjoy it. I wouldn't order it again. Now we didn't get a chance to try the pizza cause it wasn't available d/t staffing. Understandably so, I won't count it against them with how everything is going. But it was disappointing. On to the dessert- I don't like Tiramisu BUT their's was surprisingly good. On the down side- b/c the dessert menu only had pictures I hadn't realized the Torta Al Cioccolato was a flourless chocolate cake. I was told it was chocolate cake, not flourless(makes a big difference) I got an extremely dense huge serving of chocolate. If this is your thing- it can be shared with more than 2 people. Overall- we may go back to try the pizza and while I'm there I would order the pasta your way again. I was happy enough with the service to leave a 25% tip. Service makes a big difference

We had the best experience and highly recommend this Italian restaurant. Delicious food and service was amazing. Fresh baked bread and lasagna made daily. We loved the italian atmosphere and wine was superb. We can't say enough on how friendly the staff and owners are and we will be back again. We seen so many people coming in to pick up their food. If you want the Italian to go pizza experience, this is the place.

In a location you wouldn't expect, a great Italian restaurant! Excellent veal piccata, lasagna and rigatoni. Make sure to get dessert, especially the tiramisu!!!

This restaurant has different excuses for not serving pizza. A year ago the chef was out of town for months and then the oven was down. Over the past three weeks, I've been told the oven is down, the chef was in an accident, and to give it a few more days/a week. I'm not sure there is a chef and don't see the business sticking around for long. It is a shame because the pizza was phenomenal when the business was Trattoria Martone.
