I’m always a little hesitant with places that have self serve kiosks, but the employees were sweet and helped us out with questions. The food was good, but it wasn’t the best ramen I’ve ever had. It did leave us feeling a little achey and bloated. The flavors were good but the pork was a little drier than I’m used to. The inside is super cute though, tons of little things to look at. Overall don’t know if I’d come back but it was alright.

I got the spicy tonkatsu at medium spice. The broth flavor was kind of nonexistent, maybe because the spice level masked the flavor. The meat and toppings are good. Service was kind of nonexistent too since it’s self-order, which is fine, but a worker came to refill my cup as I was getting up so there wasn’t much to say about service. Atmosphere is especially good for a younger crowd

Adventure in a bowl. I kept finding more and more tasty things in my ramen. I ordered R9, Spicy Paitan; you should try it if you can handle spicy food. Servers were on the spot. Atmosphere was fun.

Ramen So Good, I bought a shirt.
Spicy Tonkatsu is the move. Medium spice hit harder than my stepdaddy tho. Ajitama(Seasoned softboiled eggs) with a burst of flavor.
Get one of the ice cream Sammies too

Besides a good bowl of Ramen.
I came here this time to witness and be part of an experience like no other. I can’t believe they invited two master sushi Chefs to demonstrate the highly sought after giant tuna carving experience. Being able to take part at this private dinner party was not only an experience of a life time but being able to watch these chefs break down a giant bluefin and served it to us fresh was Magical. I never had sushi so fresh, and every bite was next level. Best sushi ever! Thank you Umami Ramen for hosting such an Amazing experience. And the two Master Chefs, Andy and Hiro, you guys are a force to be reckoned with! I don’t think I can eat sushi the same way again 😬 I can’t wait for you guys to come back and do it again. Definitely will be back for round two!

First impression I want to say about this place as I walked in I was greeted right away and looked around my surroundings inside and it looks very nice. They have different kind of Japanese souvenirs and anime toys which is pretty cool to see. If you're coming in by yourself or less than a party of 6 you can order on the kiosk they have or the front counter. I tried out the spicy miso ramen replaced the pork with chicken with mild spice level and let me tell you it was AMAZING! Perfect amount of spiciness to it, it's not too spicy but like a hint of it which made it really good. The broth itself was like chef's kiss, so flavorful to the point I almost finished the whole soup. The noodles had a pretty good portion in it. The chicken was pretty seasoned well and was very tasteful. The veggies they put in was a good amount 👍. The egg was pretty sweet. The price itself is pretty pricey but everything is pricey nowadays when you go out to eat. I told the workers and the owner in the front counter that this is one of the best ramen spots in Sacramento and they looked very happy when I told them. I'll definitely come back with some friends next time to tell them about my new favorite ramen spot

I dropped in on a lazy weekend just before noon. Umami Ramen in Folsom, CA. I have not been back here in a while. .Right when I stepped in, I noticed the interior setup changed quite a bit. The kitschiness of the anime, trinkets, Japanese snack food, claw game machine, and toy collectible baubles for purchase is abundant. Visual sensory overload. All of that was not here the last time I dined here. I had to take a quick glance around to make sure I was in the right place. Yup, I was in Umami Ramen.
After I weaved past folks gawking at the snacks and stuff, I made it to the self ordering kiosks. There was no human person taking orders, so I used the kiosk. I would have preferred the human interaction to ask questions. I had to read the kiosk board a few times regarding the ramen topping options, it is mark options it if you do not want it versus want it.
After I ordered my food and took my table number sign, I meandered around gawking at all their merch. Neat stuff that I want and of course do not need. Besides the items near the front door, they have more merch on the back wall near the restroom. Plus they have snacks on the merch shelf, Japanese ice cream in the cooler by the front door, and a cold case of Japanese sodas and juices.
My order of black garlic tonkatsu ramen took a little bit over 20 minutes after ordering. The big, piping hot bowl was set in front of me. It looked gorgeous, picture perfect. The egg was cooked with the yolk having a nice, classic jammy consistency and served cold in the hot broth as it should be. The pork slices were seared, that added more flavor to it. The broth was more flavorful than I remembered. Deep umami flavor. Yum. Slurp-luscious. But it hit me hard a few hours later. I have MSG food intolerance. I found out later the broth had MSG. I got a migraine and tummy ache. My issue, not theirs. I can handle MSG in small quantities. I am in that statistical 1% of the population having MSG intolerance. Lucky me. So if I eat significant amounts, I get a migraine and other not so fun symptoms depending on the quantity consumed. I did not have this problem before eating here. But it is not uncommon for ramen places to use MSG.
