Thank you FT.Irwin for having an amazing SOS coordinator Lori Picard. She is absolutely the Best thing this facility has. She takes excellent care of us Gold Star families. She takes care of Us like we are her family. What's even better is that she has her office in Barstow to accommodate those of us coming from far away. We can't get to or on the base sometimes. If we have a question or an issue, Lori is the go to person to get an answer. Lots of gratitude and thanks to Ft.
Great learning takes place here
NTC is a great place to train and gain some knowledge of the Army. As a rotational unit you will learn a lot. Being stationed here is rough. I think it should be a one year TDY. There is not much to do, you're constantly in the field and it's a pitri dish for toxic leadership to grow. Not all soldiers have a bad time here and it is based on your perception of this place, but 80% of soldiers have a bad time here when stationed at NTC. I wish I had something more positive to say, but I guess when you're training the force, you shouldn't expect much from the Army.
Dfac #1 is very good it has all your basic foods and substitutes. You can achieve balance diet and weight management here. The omelet masters are on their game
I never eat there so I really can't give a good rating
I truly believe if the model of the DFAC moved to serving soldiers and civilian to include contractors healthy options fully then we would be able to maintain and in shape force , hopefully one day this will happen!
Great please and people and service
Always clean. And staff amazing
Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. Food is ala cart, and cash only if you don't have a meal card so make sure to keep that in mind. It is not very busy when I am here, and the lines all flow fairly quickly. Recommend this dfac!
It's an army defac dont expect a gourmet food

Nice cheap lunch option when working on base
I've been to my fair share od DFACs in my time. This one was by FAR the best one.
Here for NTC, came early as torch party so we went to the DFAC for all of our meals for a week and half. DFAC staff is very friendly. The food is good for the most part but certain things I've had better at other DFACs such as biscuits and gravy, greens, fish, and just overall options for lunch. The fish I got was undercooked towards the middle, and most of the casserole dishes aren't heated thoroughly. The omelet was overcooked and dry. The ovenbaked chicken is good and seasoned well. The cashier line tends to be slow sometimes. Overall the food is decent. I'd choose this DFAC over fast food anytime.
Good food but A la carte style so you pay for everything. The picture is 7.59 worth of food.
Great portions and great food. Better than most DFACs I've been to. Love their bacon in the morning.
