It's bitter sweet, but this location has closed as of 6-15-2022... We have been going here for over 20 years on and off. For some odd reason, we always have got the smug, short, shaved head waiter (we always said going in, we hope we don't get this guy and.... Damn!!! We got him every time)! We put up with it as we loved the chips and salsa, tacos and the best cheese enchiladas (best I have ever found-imha)! Every time we would leave, we would say lets go back to the Super Mex off of Beach in HB (now closed as well)l or the og in the LBC (been going there for over 25+years)! This Super Mex in FV sold for so cheap at $159K (wish I knew-I would have bought it)! Oh well, good thing we still have Super-Mex in Sunset Beach close by! RIP SMFV!!

tl,dr: Used to be 5 stars. Never returning. Dislikes: - Grumpy waiter got grumpier. - Forgot the taco for plato #23. - Didn't ask me what kinda taco I wanted. - I raised my hand for 1-2min awaiting a waiter's attention. The guy and the waitress were just chillin', socializing among each other, briefly glanced in my direction, attended to other customers, went back to socializing and laughing and having a good time. Even the other customers noticed my predicament and tried to hide a smile. - This time, they didn't bring out the second empty glass so we could share our margarita. - We asked for extra napkins twice. Once the guy walked by our table with napkins in hand to hand us something else, then walked away with those napkins. He returned later to finally drop off those napkins. ...weird. - I miss the nicer, attentive purple-haired waitress from last time. Likes: - Food is deeelicious!

A bit pricey, but food is always good. Only downside is they're a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve margaritas with tequila, they're sangria made. Yummy comfort food

I think 3 stars maybe generous because I have such fond memories of the other SuperMex near the beach on Beach Blvd, that location had the best happy hour n the best ever crispy shrimp taco, we were there on taco Tuesday almost every week, one day I was broken hearted it went out of business thanks to Brandon n the beer virus. We were At TJMAX and saw this branch, we went in when they told me it was still the same owner. My husband was suspicious as it didn't have the ambiance of the other restaurant, it looked sort of obsolete not vibrant but I insisted to give it a try. The margarita came right out of the bottle plus mix, no bartender shaking n making from fresh lime. It tasted artificial as expected. The albondigas soup was ok, the crispy shrimp taco had nice grilled shrimp but the taco was a jaw breaker. We ordered a combo of taco, chili relleno n small enchilada it said $15 but when they bill came out the server tagged on $2 or so which made it overpriced. I was very frustrated the food was like something out of a food truck but the price was not. I should have listened to my husband n go to Que vidas the folks who took over the old SuperMex location, everything was modern n the food was fresh, the drinks were made by a bartender. I'm not coming back here! Let's go Brandon! Lol

It's Mexican food but not super! The margarita was good and is only 5 dollars. The crispy taco tasted good but the tortilla shell is very hard and not edible! Service was good and friendly!

Been coming to Super Mex for 36 years and couldn't believe how bad the FV location has been come and the prices they are charging. Flavor was lacking in most items I had to keep loading up the salsa on everything and on top of it when the bill came we saw $26 for a pitcher of Coors light, it's freaking Coors light give me a break. Usually tried to stay away from FV location but the other HB location shut down.

Classic Mexican food with a homemade feel. Definitely recommend. The portions are perfect and I'd definitely recommend the spicy chili relleno. Their carnitas was tender, but savory and their salsa had just the right bite to it. Pop in and give them a try.

Love the food at Super Mex, however they have just raised the price of a pitcher of coors to $26-really?! This is price gouging! Shame on you!!

The burrito sauce was tasty and huge enough to take for next day lunch. The shrimp fajitas was done to perfection. Thank you chef

I had heard the original owner sold the chain. The new owner kept the menu but it wasn't the same. Also, I completely understand increasing prices in these times but in no way was my SM Burrito worth the money. There is a creepy manager that almost polices the dining area. Funny how he kept asking us if we were ok but never bothered to see that we didn't have chips and our beverage tumblers needed filling. He just kept coming around as if to make sure no one dined and ditched. He was weird and annoying. If he is reading this or a staff member reading this, keep him out of the dining area and in the office or someplace else. Also, Inform him that when he's cleaning an adjacent table from a customer to stand over the table that he's cleaning where his a** is not in a customers face. On this night the place was packed. I was surprised because this place hasn't been packed like this in years. The service staff meant well but my server never checked on us but only once. I've been eating at SuperMex for years and unfortunately ,with the new ownership , increased prices for average food, and everything that went down ,this is my last time

Margaritas are wine based, they tend to be out of a lot of things. Expensive for lack of food and wine based drinks. another locations are better. Also no potato tacos like other locations if you are looking for those. Server was not friendly at first but warmed up toward the end. It was not busy.

I have lived in HB now Fountain Valley for over 27 years. I am a of Super Mex. However, recently now living in Fountain Valley this Super Mex is horrible!!!! They now out of nowhere charge for chips when you buy salsa????!!!!! Never have I been charged an separate charge for chips when you buy chips and salsa. Service is bad . And overall just a disappointment. They are rude . And they charge for the silliest stuff , like I wanted no rice double beans , I was charged????

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. The food was atrocious. The service was great but the food was bland and had no taste. We wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was not good.

My waitress last night was fabulous. So friendly and attentive! The salsa is one of my favorites and I'd recommend getting the shredded beef crunchy tacos. The guava and mango margarita are super refreshing!
