The best Xian food I've ever had. Delicious biang biang noodles, pork burger and soaked bread lamb soup. So much flavor! And the service is so fast! You have to eat this food!

Xi'an Famous Foods in NYC is one of the eateries I miss most about NYC, so when I saw a Xi'an food spot in the Bay Area, I was really tempted to check it out. Alas, I will have to wait until Xi'an Famous Foods makes its way over to the West Coast. I ordered the liang pi (literally translated as cold skin noodle) with sesame, special hot oil spill noodle with vegetable and pork, and hometown style dry-cured beef rouburger (think meat in a bun). Overall, things were much too salty, oily, and skimpy on the meat. The texture of the noodles was too soft and lacked the al-dente chewiness I love about Xi'an's knife cut noodles. The liang pi didn't have any sesame, but came with thinly cut bean sprouts and cucumber. There was a tiny amount of peanut butter / sesame sauce they put into a container (the amount was probably adequate for 1/3 of the dish). Liang pi noodles are generally chewy, elastic, and extremely thin. This felt more like a wide rice noodle you would get at a Cantonese spot (which is just a fundamentally different noodle). The texture was okay for a wide rice noodle (maybe even a bit too soft), soft, almost spongy, and fresh, but definitely not the right texture for liang pi. There were slivers of tofu (maybe the equivalent of a a 1" x 1" block) cut finely into the entire dish, which almost felt worse than not having any protein. 1/5. Next up, the noodle with vegetable and pork. This used the exact same noodle as the liang pi (but at least is the right noodle). The flavor was good-- it had the right mix of spices and slight numbing qualities that I look for in my Xi'an noodles. However, the flavor was overpowered by the oiliness and saltiness of the dish. The texture of the noodle left something to be desired, as really good knife cut noodles have a chewiness to them that keeps you coming back for more. Moreover, the inconsistent size of the noodles (some were 2" wide, some were .5" wide) seemed a bit unprofessional. Finally, the meat (fatty pork pieces) and veggies (bits of potato that were still a bit crunchy) were cut into pieces no larger than .25" x .25"-- and I don't think it was because they were going for a meat mix vs. pieces of meat. There were also some mung bean sprouts they put in. 1.5/5. Finally, the hometown style dry-cured beef rouburger. The bread was pretty flavorless and very hard. We toasted it up (as we got takeout) which added some texture, but overall, it wasn't great. The meat was pretty skimpy for something that cost $6.49 (I think I've gotten more tuna sashimi at other restaurants for $6.49), and the taste was fairly one-dimensional...mostly soy sauce and star anise, vs. the 20+ spices that a really good rouburger. The texture of the meat was okay...neither too thin nor too fat. 1.5/5. I got this as takeout and my order was ready at the scheduled time. No complaints there, and service was standard. There were also other orders on the counter, so I guess other people like this spot, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Ordered on Chowbus for delivery on Super Bowl Sunday- everything was delicious & fresh! We had the lamb noodles, the beef in bread thing & walnut prawns. Good portions- Totally demolished it all. Adding to our restaurant take out rotation.

Armed with the knowledge of Xian cuisine after we visited and ate through Xian, China, and loving all the spices, we gave Xian Kitchen in Fremont another try.We were so happy with their delicious and authentic dishes, we have been frequent customers of Xian Kitchen for the last year. Why am I only writing a review now?! My sister and BIL from SoCal recently had to visit us. They have a favorite authentic Xian cuisine restaurant that they would drive an hour to eat at. They both announced that, drum roll please, Xian Kitchen is better! This is our goto list: crispy chicken, fried cauliflower in dry pot (lite spicy & lite sauce), special hot oil noodle, lamb stewed noodle, fried lamb with cumin, and, hometown style pork rouburger (no fat).We would love to try other dishes but these are just too good to pass!

TL;DR: My suggestions would be to call ahead for pick up, be sure the check if your order is right before you leave, and to avoid their soupy dishes.Ordered for dinner on a hot day where none of us felt like cooking. The plaza is shared with lots of other Chinese restaurants with plentiful parking available. I noticed several orders lined up on their counters ready for pick up upon entry. This is a good sign of the quality of the restaurant. I end up ordering 7 dishes and get a 15 min pick up time. They do take card but prefer cash/Venmo. You could grab boba at the YiFang next door or do some quick shopping at the Lucky's across the lot while you wait. When I went to check if my order was ready after the 15 min, the worker asked me to come back again. Like is said earlier, they are pretty busy with orders so I expected that. I ended up waiting around 30 min for my food to be ready. Make sure to check if your order is correct before you leave because there's only worker acting as cashier, order taker, packing, and arranging the pick ups so there'll naturally be mistakes. They don't plastic wrap the tops before sealing with a lid like some other places I've ordered from so make sure you have a securing system for the drive back if you have soupy dishes. The first dish I tried when I got home was their "fried jelly" ($9). English translation aside, this is essentially the stir fry version of their cold liangpi (cold noodle) dish. I really liked it and it was simple and flavorful. I also got their actual cold noodle appetizer ($7) and it wasn't my favorite of all the different types I've tried but it's very authentic to Xi'an style cuisine. Their boiled salted duck ($14) was a surprisingly good choice. It's served cold and the meat was cooked well with a subtle salty taste. Their QiShan noodle dish ($11) is a spicy noodle soup paired with the wide flat hand pulled noodles. It's sour and slightly spicy with chunks of pickled radish, bean sprouts and ground pork. It wasn't amazingly good to me but my cousin liked it a lot. We also had their tomato pork rice noodle casserole ($11). The rice noodles are the soft and silky round rice noodles like you get in BBH. Soup was nice and had lots of bamboo shoots and some shrimp, a couple of meatballs and veggies - not much tomato from what I remember. Next up we had their braised beef stew noodle soup ($11.60). Beef wasn't tender, soup tasted like just soy sauce mixed with water. Finally, we had their Chinese style braised veggies with pork ($16) which came in 3 giant to go containers. The dish was very oily. Super oily. We didn't eat much of it and I ended up scooping at least 1 inch thick solidified fat out the next day. I wouldn't recommend these last 2 dishes.Portions are generous and prices fair. I will come back and try their other dishes!

During pandemic, I am craving for dishes that I won't be able to make at home easily, especially those lamb dishes from the western China. I ordered a few from Xian Kitchen, but found they don't taste authentic. I guess their cook could well be from their neighbor province Sichuan instead of Shan'xi.

Very good and authentic food. Only did takeout during COVID-19 and the boss there is very friendly. Highly recommend to anyone love Chinese western food.

The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the special hot oil noodles with vegetable and pork and the stir fried noodles with lamb, and we finished everything! I definitely would recommend these two noodle dishes! Service was super fast as well and they even gave us additional chili oil. Coming from someone who's Chinese, this was the best Chinese food I've had in a while.

The service was very terrible, we were supposed to buy two iced noodles and they asked for $29??? And when we reduced to one iced noodle, they add two more bum which we haven’t ordered at all. The service is really terrible, feeling like we are owning lots of money to them. This is my first tour to this restaurant and won’t be back again.

The food and service are so bad. There are other better Chinese restaurants nearby. I'll never come back here.
