I rarely leave one-star reviews because I understand how hard the industry is, and for the record, the staff here were wonderful—very friendly and attentive. However, the experience was overshadowed by major issues.
First, the smell was overwhelming. I sat to the left of the entrance, and there was a persistent odor resembling a dirty restroom floor throughout my entire meal. Additionally, the cutlery was visibly stained.
As for the food, even the California rolls (which are usually a safe bet) were not good. We also ordered the appetizer salad, which arrived last. It tasted neither Japanese nor American—it was just unpleasant. The panna cotta as desert is the only good-tasting dish of the whole meal.
I really hope the management addresses the cleanliness and kitchen standards because the front-of-house team deserves a better environment to work in.

The seafood salad here was delicious, and the salmon skin was baked to a perfect crisp – it was fantastic!

The bento box took a little longer to arrive, but the salmon was grilled perfectly, although the tempura was cold .

Service is friendly and fast !

I grew up going to Satomi a good 20+ years ago, then ended up moving out of state about 5 years ago. I came back for a visit, in the mood for some serious sushi after a Mission Peak hike, and oh boy was Satomi just as good as I remembered it. Not only were the rolls delicious, but the service was incredible. UE was quick, attentive, and very friendly. I can't wait to visit again.
-Lion King: rich and savory/sweet, very satisfying
-49'er: fresh and bright
-Rainbow: classically delicious

The sushi was good, beautifully presented. The jalapenos were hot tonight.

It is busy. We lucked out and had no wait but we did see people have to wait outside after us. The servers are hard to catch because they're busy, but they're good. However the kitchen is forgetful. We ordered gyoza and agedashi tofu. But we had to ask for them 3 times!

Also it's stuffy in the back corner with no AC or air circulation.

I have been going here for over 15 years. I have moved cities and now states and they are still the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to. The quality is there every single time. I will always be loyal to this place!

Satomi - Thornton. Went here around 2pm Saturday. No wait and got our food and drinks right away. Fast friendly service. We ordered Tempura mixed, Satomi roll, Japanese cowboy, Spicy crunchy, and Fremont. All orders were flavorful and fresh.

Been to Satomi many times. They have a solid variety and taste good, but they are expensive asf. They’re probably the best Japanese place near by except for maybe Kiya Sushi next to the local high school. Would still eat again, but dear god is it expensive.

The staff is very attentive. Salmon quality was excellent and portion sizes and prices are reasonable too. Got free miso soup when we sat down and a stamp card for discount after several visits. Would definitely go again!

Tried the Lion King roll, churashi bowl (both average), and soft shell crab (favorite). Service was friendly, and prices are reasonable!
