I gave this place a try because i felt sorry for it. I ordered the Ginger and Green onion crab and paid $76 i found 1 human hair. disgusting. they also removed the crab liver that i love to eat without asking me if i want it or not. the dish was good, but because of those two upsetting facts, i will give it 1 star

Best Chinese food in the Bay Area. You got to try those pre-order dishes. They are so unique and delicious. Oh, Don't forget the Almond desert.

Me and my husband order from them we ordered shrimp fried rice that was not cooked properly and it tasted like someone dumped soy sauce all over it we wanted beef and broccoli but the broccoli was way under cooked and the beef was extremely chewy and Mongolian beef the meet was chewy and the sauce as extremely salty it was not worth the money we paid $52 for this meal just to throw it away

Grabbed dinner here recently (call ahead if you want to dine in!). We were the only customers and it kind of felt like we had a private dining experience at someone's home. The server was chatting on the phone (she immediately came to our attention when we were ready to order) so it felt really casual. Maybe some people would say that's rude but I personally felt like it made for a homey canto atmosphere. Would recommend: - red wine pork chops -- Very good! Just the right amount of sweetness and sauce - yolk covered fried pumpkin - very tasty and well fried - clay pot beef & daikon - our group was wondering how they got the sauce to be like that - the server talked us into getting part of a steamed fish (they had the belly of a bigger fish left) and we devoured it Actually we pretty much devoured every dish I grew up in Beijing and we would often visit Hong Kong. I have pretty high standards for real authentic Chinese food. This place hit the spot! Flavors were right, food tasted fresh, and everything was well made.

Update- Changed ownership couple years ago, just went once after owner changed, service much better but quality is not as good as the old cook (owner's husband)!

Went to this place many times before COVID but never wrote a review. As a Cantonese food snob, I believe it serves some of the best Hong Kong quality cuisines in the bay area Seafood here is fantastic, we have feasted on their crabs and lobsters many times over. Whether it's salt & pepper, salty egg yolk, ginger scallion or Jakarta chili style, they will crush it out of the park. Fish is also excellent, we typically get a fish then enjoy it 3 way: fillet stir fry with greens, miscellaneous parts boiled with veggies, fish head and other parts to make creamy yummy fish soup. The flavors of a Cantonese style fresh fish soup is the true definition of umami. Alternatively you can always settle for a steamed whole fish. Steamed giant clam: filled with scallops, vermicelli, then they drizzled sizzling oil over it with green scallion, a little bit of sweet soy sauce, OMG. Almond milk/Almond tea dessert: far superior than the Meet Fresh version. You have to call 1 day in advance to order. They prep each batch fresh and can only make a limited amount each time. The texture is silky smooth, perfect blend of North and South almond flavors, right amount of sweetness and velvety egg white to boot. They offer specialty dishes but you will need to tell them 1 day in advance: crispy roasted chicken stuffed with sweet sticky rice, winter melon soup...etc. You will also find old school Cantonese fares such as clay pots, salted egg yolk stir fry pumpkin, steamed meat loaf, roasted quail....etc. The service here is "casual", he or she can be watching HK drama behind the counter while taking phone orders. The server cab be a little impatient, esp if you ask too many questions about chicken LM or S&S chicken. Typically they only have 1 main chef, it ensures the quality of the dishes albeit longer wait. It's a tat pricier compared to other generic places but it's justified. Note the cost of crab and lobsters have jumped this past year so be prepared to pay for those dishes. Indoor dining is now open but you may need to call to RSVP, their dining room is tiny.

Yum's bistro is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. It isn't all fried nor slathered in sweet sugary sauces or soy sauces. They offer a variety of dishes that don't leave you feeling greasy and sick after. It has some higher end style seafood dishes that you would only find at Chinese banquet kind of places, but for a fair price in a small casual environment (abundant ways to cook crab, lobster, and shrimp!). I personally also like their fried chicken stuffed with sticky rice, which you can't find at every Chinese restaurant either.

SIGN OF A GREAT CHINESE FOOD - ORDER THE NON DEEP FRIED ITEMS Growing up most items I liked at Chinese restaurants tended to be fried or deep fried. My dad's favorite Chinese restaurant was in San Francisco as they served Korean chicken wings. Sweet and sour pork was my favorite Chinese food growing up. Maybe it's a Filipino thing to devour deep fried items at Chinese restaurants just look at the buffets. LOL. As I've gotten older I tend to appreciate that the best Chinese food aren't deep fried. Last week I ordered through Yelp items to be delivered for lunch: steamed chicken with special season, sautéed filet of sole, and hot and sour soup with wonton. The one thing I liked about the steam chicken is the special seasoning, which consists of ginger and scallion. That seasoning acts as a salty texture to the steamed chicken. I've had steamed chicken that have been overcooked but not the steamed chicken I ordered from Yum's Bistro as it was moist. I only tend to eat fish that are breaded and deep fried however I decided to order the sautéed fillet of sole for a change. I don't like fish that are flaky but meaty. With the thick cuts of sole you can taste the meaty texture. The sauce is also fantastic with rice. The last item I ordered was hot and sour soup with wonton. I really like wonton soup. I somewhat like hot and sour soup as sometimes it is a hit or miss with me. I wanted to trying combine those two together. For me I found that the wonton adds a filling attribute to the hot and sour soup. By educating myself I realize there more things than just deep fried food at Chinese restaurants. Even if you're comfortable with the deep fried items growing up have an opportunity to expand your palate. Yum's Bistro provides that opportunity to eat non deep fried items that are delicious.

This restaurant is highly underrated. It is authentic (I'm an ABC, parents are Chinese) and consistently good. I have been ordering takeout from here since the pandemic started and the staff is always cheerful and very grateful for my business. My go-to dishes are the Spicy Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, the Braised Cod Fish Head and Fillet clay pot, the Sauteed Seafood and Tofu clay pot, and the Fried Salt & Pepper Calamari. I've also had some other beef and chicken dishes, and I would say you can't go wrong.

This place is fantastic. Fast, consistent, authentic, and reasonably priced. My family has been ordering from here since the pandemic started, and the food is always great. The items we order most are the Spicy Salt and Pepper Pork Chops (椒盐猪扒) and Fried Salt & Pepper Calamari (椒盐鲜鱿) - I would highly recommend both. The restaurant also does a great job of (1) cutting a small hole in the box for fried items to prevent them from getting soggy and (2) avoiding packing their proteins with large chunks of bone / inedible things. We have also tried most of their clay pot dishes and a variety of chicken and beef stir fry dishes and have enjoyed all of them.

We've always been liking this restaurant even after they changed the ownership. Food was delicious until lately. We've been supporting this restaurant with takeout orders after they reopened due to pandemic. The reason I gave three stars because of the recent the takeout orders. The Quantity of the orders were getting less and less. The orders were literally 1/2 or 1/3 portions of other restaurants' orders. In addition, the Quality was also slipping down. Base on recent experience related to frequent order items: Salt & pepper pork chop - was very fatty and inedible. Bitter melon with beef - was lacking of flavor unlike before Sweet & sour pork spare ribs - were soggy and tasted bland Did they change the head chef? I've stopped ordering from them.
