Let me just begin with this— I generally do not leave negative reviews for locally owned shops, but after seeing that many people have had the same experience I see it was not just one bad day for them. I visited this cafe with a friend hoping to sit and have a nice coffee and pastry and chat. The atmosphere when you enter is not friendly, the man behind the counter was very rude and impatient, asking several times to be tipped. All the while as we were sitting drinking our drinks he again asked to be tipped then paced about muttering things in another language. He then sat in the couch and glared at us. After I had barely finished my coffee he informed us that he was closing the shop for a break and that we needed to leave. The coffee was good, the pastry was ok, but the service and atmosphere because of this guy were terrible. Their prices are pretty high to begin with and I am not accustomed to tipping before I even receive service. I had hoped to find a fun new spot to enjoy coffee and try new pastries but this will not be it. Such a shame.

I tried their famous coffee, Bab Al Yemen, this Saturday, but it was the worst coffee I've ever had, we just left even without drinking it.I also had their honeycomb, which was okay but not very excellent

Absolutely lovely Yemeni coffeeshop! Beautifully themed and delicious drinks and sweets to enjoy. I love that there’s a local café that celebrates the richness of Yemeni culture. 🇾🇪

Want to feel at home? In the hour I sat here in the corner reading my book I witnessed the owners playing with a baby, having meaningful conversations with customers, and had a lovely drink with dessert. This is a wonderful place and I can’t wait to come again!

Came here to try something different and the owner who’s a very nice guy recommended the mufawar coffee which has an herbal after taste. Delicious! And for desert, the khalyet nahel (honeycomb). You won’t be disappointed!

I hate to leave this review as I think the coffee here is spectacular, however, the owner I’m assuming (older guy with glasses) is incredibly rude and downright discriminatory. I visit this shop twice and each time experienced less than satisfactory service. The first time, I asked for a recommendation on a coffee, his disdain was palatable, even a simple “I don’t know” would’ve sufficed, I got eye rolls, huffs and puffs and flat out ignored. I accepted it because sometimes people have bad days.

The second time I visit with guest's, this attitude did not change, and unfortunately we were all subject to terrible service. He did not serve us the way he did other customers (welcoming them, offering them napkins or checking in on their table, bringing the food the table and overall hospitality) we practically served ourselves. When we left without tipping, he said “of course not.” I am unaware of this guys problem but he is running his business with his terrible attitude.

Way overpriced. 10 dollars for a glass of ice tea. Coffee was overpriced as well and was not good.

Decided to check this place, and could not be happier that I did. I tried the Turkish coffee and honeycomb pastry and they were both delicious and very well-priced. The service was also warm and friendly. I will definitely be coming back!

Genuinely an amazing experience all around. From the food, to the staff, to the atmosphere. I loved the comfortable seating arrangements and the pastries are delicious. We spent 3 hours talking and felt so comfortable. Absolutely amazing, will be a regular!

This is my second time coming here, and they do fantastic coffee no matter what time of day! I saw they had pistachio cake and latte, so I decided to try it out. Both came out so delicious, and I took my time to enjoy the flavor of both. I definitely recommend anyone who likes or is starting out trying coffee to come here.
