🥰Bobby Salazar's at Champlain and Perrin in Fresno is the best Mexican Restaurant around. Friendly servers, great food, great drinks and large portions round out the best of the best. We go there every Saturday night!
Breaking the rules!
My daughter and I made a quick visit for some take out at Bobby Salazar's! As usual, we ordered the Holy Guacamole, and added some other items like two burritos with NO cheese for my sons (dairy allergy, both of them), a dinner plate and three, yes three Quesadillas. The service was excellent. No one else was there at the time, so we got star treatment.
Everything turned out well except for two things which described my rating.
1-The Holy G needed salt. Any salt at all. However, on the positive side, I did like the freshness.
2-The biggest issue? I made a point to tell them my sons are allergic to dairy (if you read my reviews, you already know this), mentioning it at least twice, where the server and another person mentioned that they got it! Even when servers say they have it, I still tend to mention it again, because of its importance. Beans, Ground Beef and Rice. That's all I asked for.
When we got home, I gave it to my son who luckily was too full at the time to eat. I said ok.
About an hour later, my wife went to cut it in half to serve it to them, and out came some melted cheese. Not a little, as though it was an accident or some stray grated pieces, but stretchy-could have been a pizza-nacho style-cheese.
Needless to say I was sad. And the boys, well, Dino nuggets it was (I think).
The moral of the story, we still unwrap all food purchased from restaurants, burritos, Calzones, Samosa, you name it, wrapped like a dumpling, and we cut it open. Because for some reason, I think kitchen staff are on auto pilot. They need to realize that a modification due to an allergy is not something to be upset about, or forget about, or gloss over because you are busy. It's a big deal and for some can mean life or death.
Please, if you are reading this and you are from any restaurant, work in a restaurant, own a restaurant. Give allergies a second look. For some reason they are becoming more prevalent. More common. Not sure why, but I do know something like this can be avoided.
As for Bobby Salazars, I am not one to punish for one mislead. I always turn the other cheek. But the review is honest. we will be back, I'm always a fan of the food and people.
Thanks You!

Carne asada was greasy, taco shells were stale, salsa was bland, shrimp was flavorless, fajita vegetables were barely cooked. Rice and beans were fine. But the take-out window was fast and convenient.

When the only person on the floor ignores you and talks to others, that's lousy service. And come on, country music in a Mexican restaurant;

Quality food, friendly and efficient service, adorable atmosphere. The patio is excellent for large groups and the bar is great for just hanging out. This is one of my favorite neighborhood joints!

4/13/24 630ish I am hoping it was an off night. The take out order we got was not good. I was surprised as we have enjoyed many meals before. Tonights steak chimi was greasey, tough meat and flavorless as were the dry taquitos, tomatoey rice, bland beans and salsa.However...The ground beef in the monster burrito and chips were good.

The last two times I have ordered for pickup through the phone, i’ve gotten a super rude person. She won’t let you finish what you’re saying, just keeps cutting you off saying “anything else”? yes, because i haven’t finished my freaking sentence. and she said “thanks bye” at the end and hung up on me…. also she was rushing me so much that i forgot to order a drink so when i went to the window to get my food, i asked if she could add a drink on and she rolled her eyes at me..

Usually we get to go meals. Guacamole is great actually our favorite’s are all tasty. They customize if necessary, like veggie quesadillas light on oil is great or add chicken etc. . Mango salad is a favorite, refried beans, enchiladas and burritos.

Tonite we went to Bobby Salazar's on Perin, it was such a disappointment and actually some of the worst food I have had. Nearly everyone in our party had very over cooked and dry meats, and my granddaughters chicken tenders were .ore like chicharonis.I am from Selma and know Bobby and his family, and I love to eat at Sal's and Bobby's restaurants. However, I will never eat at this location again, I should have noticed the empty parking lot when we got there. I think Bobby or someone of authority needs to pop in and check out the food they are serving. We were there about 6 pm on a Saturday.

Not the Bobby Salazar's food I remember.....the meat in the Chile con Carne was so tuff I finally gave up eating. In fact everyone at the table who had any form of meat in their dish was super dry and overcooked. Definitely will not be back. Stick to the original Sal's if you want quality Salazar food.
