The grilled vegetables were bomb. Cooked perfectly. I could go for those alone. Super friendly atmosphere. I thought the food had gone down a bit. My chicken tasted like a preformed patty. My cabbage soup was very good. The hummus seemed bland. George's is really an institution, in my opinion, and has long been the place to go for Mediterranean food. It may have been the time of day I went.
Not gonna lie, I was a bit scared, but this is actually a really nice Armenian themed restaurant. Servers are wonderful! I ordered the Armenian Combo and didn't realize it would come with bread and choice of a side dish. For just under $23.00, I think that was a great deal. The lamb and rice were my favorite. The meatball thing wasn't bad either. Though I would've like to have more than two pieces of lamb.
Thank you! We have been in California for over a week now, travelling north from LA now back down to get on Route 66. This was BY FAR the best food (and best value) we've eaten to date in the State - and we have been to some allegedly "high end" restaurants. Fabulous food with an Armenian twist, produced by people who clearly both care and know how to cook! If your ever in Fresno, go say hello to George!!
