People complain about prices, but sodas are $4 and a pretty good pepperoni pizza the size to split with my 2 year old is only $13. Hard to find prices that reasonable at any other type of amusement park, let alone fast food now days.

This place used to be awesome. I would look forward to eating here. But the prices are insane now. Food is mediocre now. Go to the other snack bars at the zoo. Way cheaper and dare I say better? If you want a burger and garlic fries it $30.... and it's not great. I hear they use an outside vendor for the restaurant now. I don't not recommend this place at all.

Always stop here to eat out of the hot sun. They have a little more to offer here than the other ones. Free ice water helps a lot. Some people just don’t know how to clean up after themselves. Usually always half full. It’s always nice to watch the rhino, wildbeasts, elephants, antelope, ostrich while eating.
Kid-friendliness: It’s in a zoo of course more than all the options are kid friendly.

The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is one of my favorite spots in Fresno.. it is great to see all the improvements the zoo has undergone since my first visit over 20 years and how much nicer it has become every time I visit. Perhaps they would get more people to visit if their prices were not as outrageous especially at their restaurant. $12 for a cold bacon and avocado sandwich or $5 for a grilled cheese is a bit high for a subpar sandwich. I believe the view of the wonderful animals is supposed to offset the pinch at the register.
