Awesome service. Good drinks. Great social atmosphere. Great expanded speakeasy bar. They have a place where you can have a photo-op. Pretty great experience.

If you’re looking for a unique experience, The Library at Detention is the place to go to. Make reservations online and enjoy your evening in this speakeasy bar with delicious and unique handcrafted cocktails. The Robert Smith was so refreshing and the old fashioned was fun to sip on. The bartenders and hostess made us feel welcomed, Service was excellent. Everything about this experience met my expectations for a night out in tower district doing something different. Can’t wait to go back :)

The staff is wonderful! We sat at the bar and we had a great time hanging out with the bartenders. It's fun watching all the drinks being made. The atmosphere is nice too. Perfect for a date night.

Fantastic experience, my only regret is that I didn't read the book I was eyeing in their library. We will be back!

Great experience. Got lots of new knowledge about the Prohibition era. Ambience is nice and lowkey. Service is great. Character commitment is also great

This was a fun and unique adventure. The service was great and the history lesson was the icing on the top.

This is the best kept secret in Fresno! I loved the history lesson and the service we received throughout the night. I highly recommend this place!!

Went here for a night out with the husband and we immensely enjoyed it! The bartenders were so great with suggestions and making our night special. Everything we drank was delicious! The atmosphere is a book lovers paradise with a touch of history.

I know this is supposed to be a secret, but it's the best kept secret in the Tower District! My husband and I go there about once a month. It feels like you are back in the days of Prohibition. Richard, the bartender, is amazing. He can make a drink off the menu for you if you just tell him what liquor or flavor you want in it. It's a classy place for a quiet evening out, or a place for a drink to start or end your evening. So get dressed up and tell them Mr. Morton sent you, but don't tell everyone! I won't be able to get my reservation!

I made reservations and took my sister here for her bday last summer. We asked the bouncer at the front of Detention how to get in for The Library. He instructed us to ring the door bell. I got all ready to record the video of the door somehow opening out for us... and nothing happened. Lol. We thought we weren't doing it right. We kept ringing the door bell waiting for something magical to happen. Finally, the host opened the door and looked at us like we were crazy. Thats when we realized, someone had to open it manually for us and we were just ringing the doorbell unknowingly and seemingly obnoxious! We were really embarrassed and apologized. The host took us up to the rest of the group. He gave a tour, was into character and it was so much fun! The drinks were good. The bartenders were so attentive! They even got my sis a special bday shot! The whole experience was memorable! We had such a unique time and taking pictures of our own in the other rooms. I'd totally recommend this for a date night or something different to do out for a drink in tower.

This was a reservation for a large group of us and the person we were celebrating(who hadn't been and was very happy with the experience). We made a reservation online, showed up about 10 mins late(sorry!) but entered after we gave the password. The presentation was so fun, we had an AP teacher with us who loved the history given! It's super dim and not as quiet as they ask you to be. People were pretty loud. The menu is a good size, I didn't ask if they had a full bar for off menu orders but the Painkiller was my favorite. My friends loved their Old Fashioned. Nothing took too long on a Saturday night, Bryan the bartender was awesome and knocking drinks out while also chatting with the bar top guests.

This place is the friggin bee's knees. The location and process to get in is really cool and fun. The orientation on prohibition is a really great aesthetic piece before you head into the main bar and the ambiance and vibe of the place is really great. The owner is always incredibly friendly and cool, and the bartenders know their stuff and are very approachable and helpful when it comes to your questions or preferences. Try the "Angels and Demons" for a little fun and make sure you don't miss "Tommy" hanging out behind the bar ;)

You have to see it to believe it! Best and only real speakeasy experience we have found in Fresno

A unique experience. The owner gave us a history of speakeasies and the probation era set the vibe and then led us into the bar area where we got some great craft cocktails.
