They charged my card $61 for 2 bowls instead of $26 as they informed. When I complained, they didn’t answer and asked me dispute if I can but they didn’t give me a receipt. Scammer

Went in for broken rice plate that was adverised for $8 outside, pretty decent, pretty filling. They have too little rice on the plate so i had to ask for more which is $2 extra, which is fine. Meat is good, fish sauce was mixed nicely. For $8 this is a steal, hope they keep this promotion for a long time so i can keep coming back!
There r other noodles dishes too which i havent tried yet since they r reg price on the pricier side so maybe next time! 8/10

broken rice cơm tấm : 8 usd
Bún riêu cua đồng và ốc: 15 + 1.5 usd ( ốc )

Rating : 5/5 . Must try

I heard from the elder lady and I came to this Bún Bá bá . It is near Saigon super market and Tràm Chim restaurant . I first did not believe about about rating and experiences : but then I found it is true about the rating .

You must try “bún riêu” and “canh bún” and experience yourself . The owner and/or chef is the lady from Hanoi with good skill for this kind of specialty.

By the way the “bún riêu / canh bún “ is the best “bún riêu “ in orange county so far . I just have tried it couple hours ago on July 7 2025 .

We went here after we couldn't find a restaurant without waiting for a party of 4. We got different dishes like bun rieu, canh bun, nui xao bo, and bot chien. Every dish was good and flavorful with a big portion. The menu is small but quite good. We came back the second time and it was still good! The food also came out quickly, hot and fresh. The hot tea really complimented the food as well.
Somehow it's not a very crowded place so if you want some quiet dining place, this is the place for you.

We went here to try their bun bo hue & banh cuốn but they don’t have any of those today, it’s a freaking Saturday morning how can you don’t have those main dish when your store called Bun Ba Ba?!? So I asked for bun dau mắm tôm, don’t have it either 🤨. So I went for their bun riêu, not very good, kind of bland comparing to other bun riêu places. I also tried their dry egg noodle, but so disappointed, the noodle is still hard, and the sauce is just ok. The service is meh, our server doesn’t look happy, maybe he’s been working hard.

This small but nice, clean, bright place is on Westminster East of Brookhurst with about 10 tables, same plaza as the Tram Chim and old famous Bo 7 Mon Anh Hong, defunct for 24 years but still had the big sign on the street. Parking was fairly easy even for Saturday.

They had a banner out front for months, Com Tam Suon Nuong and Banh Cuon Trang Tay for $8. We came on a Saturday for lunch. The Northern woman owner was out talking clients she knew then sat and ate a big bowl of ripe tomatoes. Service was quick and pleasant, except the labor-intensive banh cuon.

It had 2 other parties, about 10 clients, not lively enough for Viet restaurants. We wanted to try the 2 special dishes, but was told the Banh Cuon was being rolled by hands with 2 orders waiting, would take about half hour. So we ordered $8 Com Tam and $14 Bun Rieu Cua Dong. 2 glasses of water were free.

Com Tam has a small and thin grilled pork loin, some shredded pig skin, a fried egg, pickled carrots and daikon, plus a cup of pork broth. Broth was tasty but had lots of MSG. Pork loin ws marinaded with fish sauce, galingan and grilled, smoky and tasty but portion was about 1/3 served in other shops. Across the street Pho Vie 2 sells $8 Com Tam Suon Nuong with 3 x amount of meats and protein and bigger bowl of soup.

Bun Rieu Cua Dong had minced crab, cubes of fried tofu and pig blood, tomato slices, served with traditional shredded water glories and papaya bloom. The broth was weak pork bone with high MSG, very fishy mud crab flavor and odors. They had all kinds of condiments on the table, including fermented shrimp paste, which smelled raw, fishy and stinky, typical of Northern shrimp paste, not fully fermented and pleasant like the Central or Southern paste I know and like. This fishy and salty shrimp paste did not help but made the bun rieu soup far worse than average. The $1.75 extra Cha Oc snail roll was mostly ground pork and tasteless.

My partner and I agreed both dishes were not worth their prices or worth eating. We both prefer $10 bun rieu oc at Van's which smells and tastes delicious like the best authentic bun rieu in Vietnam. Van's bun rieu soup is rich of real crab broth with chunks of minced crab, meat rolls, salt-water snails, blood curls ect. Van's soups are much tastier, heartier and better values.

The owner is proud of her authentic Northern cuisine, but both dishes we ordered were way below average in tastes and values compared to similar shops nearby. She needs to adjust her menu and price points to be competitive. Good luck to her.

Clean restaurant! My order is bun riêu cua đồng. I was so satisfied! Everyone has their own taste bud for bun riêu. It just happened that I found my bun riêu match here.
I also ordered mì vịt tiềm to go. If it’s also good, I will be regular here for sure.
Note: MSG is embraced in all the dishes, FYI.

Their hu tieu kho with glass noodles is where it’s at. SO GOOD and in my opinion their best menu item.
I only get that when I go here. It was their old menu item and so glad they didn’t take it off.
