“Great quality, friendly atmosphere, definitely going to be a regular!A hidden gem in Garden Grove. Japanese owned omakase that focuses on seasonal offerings. Ben and Ayako make you feel welcome once you walk in those doors. The menu is hand written and you can see the focus and care that Ben puts with each piece of nigiri. If you want to come and get a bite, make sure you make your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.”

“Didn't have to wait for a table on a Friday night for a party of two. I think if you're a larger party, you may have to wait. Got cha gio, pho tai chin, and a cafe sua da. The cha gio and cafe sua da was nothing special. Not the best I've had, but not bad at all. The star of the show was the broth of the pho. It was very tasty, with no overpowering notes from a singular spice. All the ingredients from the beef in the pho tai, to the vegetables served with the cha gio were very fresh.”

“Efficient service. The food was exceptional! I'm a fan of their garlic butter with peppercorn razor clams. Their flavors are outstanding! However, the lack of taste after consuming peppercorn for razor clam's garlic butter is noticeable. Recommend the peppercorn flavor if you appreciate spice and robust flavors. Pineapple fried rice paired well with seafood inside.Udon with shaken beef is another great option. For beverages, we opted for the kumquat with coconut, which is refreshing. The prices are moderate but medium in size.”

Mo Ran Gak Restaurant 9651 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove Korean • $$

“Mulnaengmyeon was much more delicious than nonnaengmyeon. I think it was closer to regular naengmyeon rather than Pyongyang naengmyeon. One order of naengmyeon (naengmyeon) costs almost $20, so I think it's a bit expensive, but since it comes with one sari, it's almost like 1.6 servings. The ribs were delicious, but the portion was surprisingly small. Even though it was a weekday evening, I waited for over an hour to get in. When you're feeling a bit hectic, there's a Yelp waiting line, so be sure to check it out and wait.”

Outdoor Dining

“This place is always crowded!! Came here recently Sunday afternoon, right when the bar opened at 4pm so we got a table in the bar area to eat/drink and watch the football games. There’s always a wait for a table at the restaurant, so plan accordingly, especially if you go for dinner. They have the big beer towers if your group wants to share. Full bar with lots of alcohol/cocktail options. Great food dishes were: Ốc Hến Bánh Đa (baby clams and escargot with rice crackers), Ốc Len Xào Dừa (coconut escargot), Ốc Saté Bơ (saté garlic butter escargot) and Cơm Chiên Crawfish X.O. (crawfish fried rice)—all delicious and well flavored!! And at the end, they give each person a small complimentary bowl of Chè Bắp (Vietnamese sweet corn dessert) which is good!”

Da Vien Coffee 9562 Garden Grove Blvd Ste A, Garden Grove Coffee • $$

“I've been coming to Da Vien Coffee for over a year now. When I say I want Vietnamese coffee, THIS is what I mean. Their cold foams are flavorful and thick. This is my #1 favorite coffee shop in the OC. They specialize in Vietnamese coffee, and they also serve basic coffee, food, and desserts. I have yet to try their food & desserts; only drinks. I've been to both of their locations in Westminster and Garden Grove. Parking: Free parking. Somewhat easy to find on weekdays but more difficult on the weekends. Ambiance/Environment: On weekdays, I notice there is a consistent flow of customers. While on the weekends, they are usually busier. They have a modern, studious, and somewhat spacious environment with indoor & outdoor seating. Service: From my experience, the cashier is always kind and knowledgeable! Baristas are quick and efficient. Throughput is usually under 3 minutes. Drinks: 1) Black Sesame Latte - Phin drip coffee shot with black sesame foam. I really enjoyed the black sesame foam; it's pretty light. Even though it's shots of espresso, this drink is still strong and will keep you awake. 10/10 2) Matcha Foam Coffee - Vietnamese coffee topped with matcha cold foam & espresso powder. As someone who doesn't prefer matcha (don't come for me lol), this drink is perfect for you. The matcha foam isn't too overpowering. You get an equal amount of flavors from the coffee and foam. 10/10 3) Egg Coffee - THIS is my favorite drink! Vietnamese coffee topped with egg foam & cocoa powder. Da Vien actually put me onto egg cold foam. I was sus at first, but omg .. tastes like heaven! 1000/10 4) Da Vien Coffee - Vietnamese coffee topped with macchiato foam & cocoa powder. This is my second favorite drink! If you're not sure what to get and want to try something basic, this drink is the safest way to go. The macchiato foam is delicious and pairs well with the coffee. 10/10 5) Cloudy Ube - Phin drip coffee shot and Ube foam. This is a lighter taste of Ube compared to the Ube Coffee. You get an equal amount of flavors from the Ube and espresso shots. 9/10 6) Peach Tea - Green peach tea with peach slices. Such a refreshing drink! It tastes exactly like how it sounds. 10/10 7) Salted Coffee - Light and creamy coffee topped with salted foam. I believe this drink contains espresso shots over milk. The foam has a good amount of sweet & salt; not too salty. This is another safe drink to go with if you want something basic. 9/10 8) Ube Coffee - Coconut Purple Yam coffee. It's basically Vietnamese coffee topped with Ube foam. If you love Ube, this is the drink for you! The Ube foam is strong and pairs well with the coffee flavor. 10/10 9) Caramel Sprinkle Latte (seasonal) - Phin drip coffee shot with caramel and topped with salted foam. This is a Xmas 2023 drink. Not my favorite drink. The flavors didn't work well together. I felt the caramel syrup tasted weird with the espresso shots. 6.5/10 Pricing: Prices are $$ average. I'd say it's worth the price because their coffee is bomb af. I highly recommend joining their rewards. You receive points, coupons via text, and birthday treats. In the Westminster location, you'd input your phone number through the iPad. In the Garden Grove location, make sure to tell your cashier your phone number after ordering.”

Louie's on Main 12942 Main St, Garden Grove Burgers • $

“Service was quick as I was immediately seated at a booth. I ordered garlic fries as my appetizer and a chicken cob salad. The fries were crispy and seasoned well with shredded cheese on top and enough for two or three people. The salad came with generous amounts of grilled chicken, croutons, slice hard boil eggs, an avocado and tomatoes. I chose the citrus vinaigrette as my dressing and the salad alone was enough to keep me full throughout the day.”

Phin Smith 12921 Main St, Garden Grove Cafe • $

“A Fresh Take on Tradition - Phin Smith Coffee Review Walking into Phin Smith Coffee immediately sets the tone for a unique experience. This isn’t your average coffee shop; it’s a journey into a blend of tradition and modern flair that Phin Smith has perfected. First, the aroma: it’s enchanting. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the comforting smell of freshly roasted beans. It becomes evident that they source high-quality, single-origin beans, an aspect that hardcore coffee enthusiasts will appreciate. Their signature blend is a perfect balance of bold and smooth, with hints of chocolate and a nice, clean finish. The real game-changer is the way Phin Smith honors the traditional phin brewing method. This Vietnamese style of brewing coffee takes patience, and the result is a rich, intense flavor not found in your typical espresso. The coffee doesn’t just taste good; it’s an experience watching it brew—the slow drip of the filter, the thick coffee mixing with milk (if you prefer), and finally, the all-consuming first sip. Pure bliss. But Phin Smith isn’t all about tradition; they integrate modernity into their practice seamlessly. Whether it’s their sustainable business practices or the innovative seasonal drinks, the creativity is nothing short of impressive. The ambiance strikes a balance between cozy and contemporary, making it an ideal spot for anything from casual meetups to low-key work sessions. The staff contributes majorly to the positive atmosphere, always welcoming and with an in-depth knowledge of their craft. You can feel the passion in the service, which is just as delightful as the coffee they serve.”

Henry's Bar and Grill 10549 Stanford Ave, Garden Grove Bar & Grill • $

“After going to the Garden Amp for a concert, a group of us were looking for a place to grab and drink and a bite to eat. We found this place on Yelp and so we decided to give it a try. This place is in a industrial but the wife and I like dives so we came in. Unfortunately, the owner let us know that the kitchen was closed so I went out to inform our group. We decided to have a drink anyways but when we walked in Paula met us at the door with that huge smile and said that they could offer us a limited. We quickly ordered 5 burgers and fries. BTW, the buns are made there at Henry's, that is a nice and rare move for a small dive bar, right? The beer offerings were pretty decent. I had a Blue Moon and my friends had Fuzzy... something or other. I was laughing and talking so I don't know exactly. My wife did get the Cardiff Cab Sauvignon that was pretty decent. What makes a great dive bar is the crowd and this place had a great group. The table next to us was serenading the room with both Bolero's and some great country hits. Their fun was infectious. Thanks again Paula for helping us wrap up a great night. Hope to see you again, soon.”

Omelette House 10082 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove American • $

“You know how it feels when you have that perfect pancake, or the butter is just melting over every part because it's piping hot, and the smell is just intoxicating, and you pour the syrup over the top and it sucks up the syrup and you get that first bite in this absolutely wonderful, and the second bite is absolutely perfect, and the third bite is absolutely terrific?Come to the omelette house.I haven't even mentioned the omelette yet. The chunks of meat inside of that omelette were so robust that I will be judging every omelette that I eat going forward against what I had today. The flavor was perfect, and the home fries were seasoned amazingly, which surprised me because most places expect you to add salt and pepper on to a already cooling pile of potatoes and peppers. This place seasons their food before they even put it in to cook, and you could taste it.The people are so nice, and the food comes out so quickly that you don't have time to dream about what it might taste like. Next time I come down here, I'll be coming here again. They found a fan in me.”

KEM by Mmm...Gelato 9856 Westminster Blvd. #121, Garden Grove Ice Cream Shop • $

“One thing you have to try here is the Kem Bo or Smashed Avocado with Durian Gelato & Nuts. This is seriously the most addicting dessert. My mom accidentally stumbled into this place with a friend and brought me back a Kem Bo. We're both hooked and we've been going back ever since. I normally don't crave desserts but this one is the exception. I've had vietnamese smashed avocado desserts at other places but this one is one of the best I've ever had. The quality of the durian gelato is fantastic and the nuts complement the dessert well. There is smashed avocado and little cubes of it and it's the perfect mix of both textures. My mom, dad, and aunt all loved it and I can't wait to show more people.”

“Great food and drinks here! Never gone wrong with the crawfish scampi fries. Parking can be a hassle on a busy night but I gotta get my fix still! Minus one star because one of the male employees always looks annoyed when talking to patrons. Noticed it a few times before but this time when I walked into the store (only customer there), I said excuse me to him because I was standing there for two minutes so he obviously didn't notice me, which was fine of course, but he gave me this head shake which really threw me off this time around. “I dined in this past Friday and place was good. Mostly, the service and food was on point. I was exceptionally impressed with the service. The server that took care of us was very attentive. She took our order and checked up on us promptly. I accidentally dropped my chopsticks during my meal, and even then, she immediately got me a new pair of chopsticks. I believe that taste is most important for a restaurant, but service must be matched to the qualify of good to have a complete experience. This restaurant offered great food and service. The only thing i'd complain about is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The utensils weren't very clean and had tiny debris on them (probably food particles that weren't washed out) and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant wasn't up to par with food and service.”

“Dany’s bakery cake & supplies- the cakes are good they bread is good that they sell. Literally fell in love with the cakes at this place. The tres leches cake is really good it’s right in the middle where it’s perfect. They have all the molds for cakes & so many supplies for you bakers at home. One thing I was kind of disappointed about was the jello even tho it’s good. It doesn’t have enough sugar for my own liking. They weren’t bad just no sugar.. besides that the staff is super friendly super nice people. Pretty sure it’s family owned.”

Tucked away in a modest shopping center that also boasts a superb shawarma joint, this place is a hidden treasure. The tandoori chicken and dal makhani I savored transported my taste buds straight to the streets of Delhi with their authentic, extraordinary flavors. The lacha paratha? Simply genius. Service was extraordinary, matched by the unique touch of serving drinks in metal, regal glasses that elevate the dining experience to one of noble indulgence. Having the pleasure of meeting both owners, their dedication was evident in every aspect. I'm looking forward to a return visit with loved ones in tow, ready to embark on a culinary expedition through their entire menu. Heartfelt thanks to Urban Punjab for a five-star experience.”

“Been trying to try out different banh mi shops all over OC to give smaller shops and different businesses my service. Found this place on Yelp nearby the area we were in. The man who's probably the owner was very nice although he didn't speak much English. He knew enough to take your order though. They have different bakeries on the counter and even a refrigerator full of cold goodies as well. I even saw frozen egg rolls to take home to fry yourself. I ordered 4 special dac biet banh mis at around ~$6.50 each which were decently priced because they're overpriced here in San Diego and very much so in Hawaii at $10 each which I recently got back from vacationing. I also grabbed a bakery item on the counter that looks good. I don't know what it was but it had a salted duck egg on top. I asked the man if it was sweet like a dessert and he said no but I'm not sure if he fully understood me. We ate the banh mi the next day since we always buy to bring back home. After refrigeration and microwaving it was still delicious and the bread was very soft and fluffy and not because it was soggy or anything. I should have taken a photo of the inside of the sandwich I ate but I was too hungry and forgot.”

I recommend to call ahead of time and ask if they have availabilities or how long the wait would be.They’ll seat you! Ordered and the food came out within 10 minutes. A basil plant will also be put into your table. You can adopt the plant. Which means you can take home the basil + the bottle.Food presentation was cool. I love the bowls. They have hoisin and sriracha already in one of the “bowl”. They have northern and southern style. Look at the menu for details.I made my own bowl with southern style + tripe, brisket, filet mignon. The soup was a little salty but it was still good. There were lots of meats in the bowl. The soup was hot so be careful. I love hot soup so it worked out for me!Vietnamese coffee- it’s pretty good but I’ve had stronger ones. Still enjoyed it!Parking: I parked far. The chicken is perfectly crispy and crunchy and always leaves me wanting to eat more. The dukpokki is tasty, but the texture of the rice cakes themselves are too hard and not chewy and soft enough for me. The spice level is good and not too high. “Upon walking in, you'll most likely get a whiff of the hot butter from the sizzling plates from diners. If they have their doors open, it's most likely due to the dining room being smokey from the plates. They offer a variety of meal options but I think they're mostly known for their sizzling plates and beef dishes. Our group had the com bo luc lac (shaken beef with rice), com suon cuu nuong sot bo toi (lamb chops with garlic butter sauce and rice), and com ribeye sot bo toi (ribeye with garlic butter sauce and rice). Even though we ordered all dishes with the red rice, there were other options to choose such as white rice, fries or bread. I'm not exactly sure what's in the red rice to even describe it. I wasn't a big fan of the red rice but to all their own.The lamb chops and ribeye were presented on a sizzling plate with a side salad with vinegarette dressing. Lamb chops were tender and ribeye lacked flavor. The star of the meal was the bo luc lac. It was also tender, shaken with plenty of sauce, and had chunks of garlic. It was absolutely delicious! The plate also had a side of watercress and onions that complimented the dish well. It was so good, our table had to order another. Portion-wise, I'd say it's a single serving. You may not want to share it with how delicious it is.Service was great, too. Now, I saw another reviewer mention this, so I will too. Just FYI, their drinks are served in small styrofoam cups. They do charge $0.50 for water. It's not a deal breaker but I guess some people may not like it. I'm assuming it's the charge for the cup itself.”

The experience was very hands-on which I really enjoyed. I customized my spring rolls to my liking as well as the sauce! They offer plenty of food options so it makes customizing not only delicious but fun to experiment with different flavors. The highlight was definitely the catfish! I'm not a big fan of catfish usually but this catfish was absolutely delicious and changed my mind completely! This is a restaurant where you can take your friends, family, coworkers, etc. just to have a good time and eat good food! I will definitely return!”

“It's a small hotel with a friendly staff and exceptional taste. I savored a delightful zinger burger and chips, followed by a memorable papri chat reminiscent of Karachi's Burns Road. I'm giving it a well-deserved 5-star rating ⭐️, considering the reasonable price.”

“My daughter and I used the app to order our food today. I'm picky on how I like my food so I asked for my bacon western cheese burger to have a fresh onion ring and no bbq sauce and Luis took my special request. He had kind manners and excellent customer service. In the past, at other Carl's Jr's, they didn't make an effort to make our order correct. But Luis not only made my order good, he put fresh onion rings on my burger and service with a smile.Thank you Luis for your excellent customer service. There needs to be more managers like you.”

“The chicken katsu was the most fresh and high quality katsu I’ve ever had! It wasn’t overly greasy and the meat was tender instead of overcooked like at so many other places. The bento box was packaged with care by the sweet staff and I was surprised by how huge it was. You will definitely have leftovers! The only thing I didn’t like was the thai tea; it was too bitter for my taste but everything else was amazing and had the best presentation!”

The very sweet Alisha (and her staff) went out of her way over and over to make this such a beautiful day. The location was adorable, food was insanely delicious, the drinks and desserts were absolutely incredible. And my sweet sister was delighted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the best day! “I love this place, great food and service. They have WiFi, but it does get packed. They’re open late which is also a plus. I would’ve given 5 stars, however the one thing that I do hate is hearing the kitchen cooks music on blast. It’s very hard to focus when he’s blasting rap all day. Please ask them to wear headphones or lower the music. I had headphones on and could still hear their music over mine. This honestly happens every time I’m here, to the point where I lose focus and leave.”

Paradise Buffet 9635 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove Asian Fusion

“$15 lunch $19 dinner AYCE Asian / American buffet aimed for Mexican taste. The place is nice, clean, spacious, about 60% occupied on Easter week Good Friday at 3PM, so it's popular. Sorry, God. I forgot it was Good Friday. You pay on entrance, given plastic cups for free sodas, and choose your own tables. This set up reduces the number of workers required to operate the front desk efficiently, only 1 cashier and 3 cleaning crew were working to keep everything tidy. By employing fewer workers they may survive, even make a good business in the cut throat Asian buffet market They play Rock and Mexican Banda music fairly loud. I wish they lower the volume a bit The food is surprisingly good with very good varieties, cooked to Mexican taste. Fill your own sodas , included. Very good salad bar with large varieties. Sushi station is small, tastes ok, but with no sashimi people would just take proteins off sushis for themselves. The beef pot roast is tender and the very tasty. This dish alone pays for the meal IMHO . Fried chicken is fairly salty. Could use less salt and more clove or Cummins. Couple indistinct braised pork to crisp, tasteless. There were Cajun shrimp and large crawfish, delish, people were eating large plates. Soups were good, clam chowder uses cream of corn, not dairy cream, smells a little like corn tortillas. Pepper shrimp was good . All stir fried veggies are overcooked to a mush for Mexican taste . The Mongolian station lets you choose proteins and veggies with your own sauce. I told the Mexican cook to do rare red beef, emphasized to him a couple times, but he still way overcooked to tasteless, again per Mexican taste. Very good desert station with cheesecake, cream pie, various cakes, soft ice cream, but very few fruits. Food is fresh and tasty, not over spiced or loaded with sugar or MSG. We were happy with the quality of our meal for this low price, very good value, even free meals on birthdays. This place seems successful with good attendance and low operating cost, but needs to add seafood ceviche for Mexican clients in place of the sushis and rolls. Left a good tip at table for the cheerful cleaning woman. This is now our favorite Asian buffet in OC. Will be back”

“I had an amazing visit to Buca di Beppo in Garden Grove, such a great place right in Orange County. This is my new favorite place to go for authentic Italian Cuisine. Sammii recommended the chicken parmigiana and red velvet cake and it was really delicious. It felt great to get such a friendly welcome upon showing up as well. Sammii was kind, so helpful going way above and beyond to make sure my time there was incredible. Adrianna also took some really great pics that our family loves. I have absolutely no complaints at all I highly recommend everyone to check this place out and find out for yourself why everyone is so pleased with the food and service.”

“Used to be a to-go place but they are transitioning it into a full on restaurant. The bun bo is surprisingly good (the place doesn't look fancy like Vua Bun Bo and the other shops) and pretty cheap. The quality of the meat in the pho is very good as well with lots of marbling (not bad for $12 ?), and is more of the lighter some made type, if you are into that. Rice plates are pretty big portions, which my friends seemed to like.Coffee is also good... on the creamier + fresh roasted flavor style.”
