“Cash only, light lines during dinner rush moves but moves very fast for groups of four and less anything more and it takes a little bit longer. All of this doesn't seem all that appealing but this place is MICHELIN RATED it's had Zagat awards almost every year since 1995, their broth is amazing everyone I've introduced this place to keeps coming back.

“Hang A Ri Kalgooksu is a hidden gem that brings the true flavors of Korean comfort food to life. Tucked away in a quiet corner, this unassuming spot is all about the quality of its food, particularly the kalguksu, a traditional handmade noodle soup.

From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by the warm, homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re about to enjoy a meal at a close friend’s house. The star of the menu is, of course, the kalguksu. The broth is rich and deeply flavorful, clearly simmered for hours to achieve that perfect balance of savory and umami. The noodles are the highlight—thick, chewy, and with just the right amount of bite, they’re clearly made with care and attention.

One of the standout dishes was the kimchi kalguksu, which had just the right amount of spice and tang from the kimchi, adding a delightful kick to the soothing broth. The mandu (Korean dumplings) were another must-try, with their thin, delicate skins and generously filled interiors, perfectly steamed to seal in all the juices.

The service was friendly and efficient, with staff who are clearly passionate about the food they serve. They made sure we had everything we needed and were quick to offer recommendations when asked.

“Best Pho I’ve ever had. Great prices, the owner brought us watermelon juice for the table, and 80’s music videos were playing on the tvs. Obvious locals enjoying a late night bite. Cool spot that proves you don’t need to go somewhere fancy to get great food.“

“Fish was relatively fresh and big portions, of good quality. Some of the pieces were blowtorched, which is a nice touch. The quality of the rice in the sushi is also good (and very important but no one ever talks about it). Friendly service and spacious venue. I was gonna say it was a bit pricey, but to be fair everything is pricey nowadays so it's probably avg priced. Just budget accordingly.“

“Nice little place. I was looking for something different from the normal ramen or pho for dinner. I have had jjambbong at a couple of other places and they were good. This place was also good. I ordered the seafood with a rib soup dish and some dumplings. They did not disappoint. The dumplings were chicken with veggies. I put a couple in my soup and that really upped the flavor. The soup can be spicy to many and being an Asian dish it could start you on fire if not careful. I opted to try it mild and it still had some spice. It was a perfect for a cold night. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“

“This is my new favorite spot for chicken katsu - it's so juicy and flavorful, and the bento box is so well put-together. While the main highlight is the katsu, every other part of the bento box is great, from the takoyaki to the gyoza, and those little animal waffles, so cute and so tasty! The owners are very friendly as well. Eating here always brings a smile to my face, I've only been twice so far, but I will absolutely be coming back again soon!“

“This is my third time visit them and they always welcome me with the biggest smile and soft voices. The food tasted absolutely delicious with a big portion and packed in good quality Togo container. None of the dishes is the best around here, for example Pho Good across the street has better pho though Pho Hoan is still 2nd among the places I've eaten, one exception is pho satay since not many places sell it. “Last week we went down to OC for a conference and we tried this noodle restaurant for lunch and it was great.The price is very reasonable and the place is clean, it even has ac for the hot day.We ordered the large egg noodles special and clear noodles for my wife. It does offer Chinese donuts fried crispy which is perfect with our noodle soups.The service is fast although we’re the fist ones there LOL. My wife was skeptical about this but we tried it anyway.The broth is perfectly seasoned and tasty, not much msg as most of the noodles restaurants around.The bowl looks small but there’s plenty of ingredients inside because the bowl is deep.We enjoyed the soups and we’re glad that we tried it out.“

The best Quang noodle shop ever eaten in OC. A bit of a western hybrid with Da Nang. Many countries. Marinated chicken, pork and shrimp are very rich and flavorful. Delicious variety of vegetables. Cool water is fine.
