“Hang A Ri Kalgooksu is a hidden gem that brings the true flavors of Korean comfort food to life. Tucked away in a quiet corner, this unassuming spot is all about the quality of its food, particularly the kalguksu, a traditional handmade noodle soup.
From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by the warm, homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re about to enjoy a meal at a close friend’s house. The star of the menu is, of course, the kalguksu. The broth is rich and deeply flavorful, clearly simmered for hours to achieve that perfect balance of savory and umami. The noodles are the highlight—thick, chewy, and with just the right amount of bite, they’re clearly made with care and attention.
One of the standout dishes was the kimchi kalguksu, which had just the right amount of spice and tang from the kimchi, adding a delightful kick to the soothing broth. The mandu (Korean dumplings) were another must-try, with their thin, delicate skins and generously filled interiors, perfectly steamed to seal in all the juices.
The service was friendly and efficient, with staff who are clearly passionate about the food they serve. They made sure we had everything we needed and were quick to offer recommendations when asked.
Hang A Ri Kalgooksu is the kind of place that keeps you coming back. It’s comforting, authentic, and unpretentious—a perfect spot for a satisfying meal that feels like a warm hug in a bowl. If you’re in the mood for something hearty and homemade, this is the place to go“

“It's the same as the best Chinese restaurant in town when I was a child. This is the only place where you can enjoy the same atmosphere and taste as you remember. I really, really love this restaurant.
Rajogi, scorched rice, black bean noodles, jjamppong, and noodles are all so delicious.“

“Three of us came to try this all you can eat restaurant, there are three menus: A, B and C. We took menu A, the most basic and least expensive one and we were satisfied. They also offer free refill ice cream along with the drinks. I really liked the service, especially that of the lady who seems to be the owner, her name is Anna and she is very kind. Kind and welcoming, I recommend the place for anyone who wants to eat some meat and try a new experience.“

“I got the short rib soup and it came out pretty fast. The soup was good but I wasn't a big fan of the banchans. The people working there were nice and I would come back to try other menus. Don't expect too much for the banchans though. The place isn't too big but enough space available.“

“Nice little place. I was looking for something different from the normal ramen or pho for dinner. I have had jjambbong at a couple of other places and they were good. This place was also good. I ordered the seafood with a rib soup dish and some dumplings. They did not disappoint. The dumplings were chicken with veggies. I put a couple in my soup and that really upped the flavor. The soup can be spicy to many and being an Asian dish it could start you on fire if not careful. I opted to try it mild and it still had some spice. It was a perfect for a cold night. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“

“We tried the galbitang and bibimmyun—both simple dishes, but they were so flavorful and comforting, like something made with a grandmother’s touch. The banchan were amazing too. The service really stood out; they kept checking on us, even during their lunch break. If we lived nearby, this place would definitely be a regular spot for us!
Just a heads-up—it’s a bit warm inside, and the sunlight hits certain spots, but honestly, it adds to the cozy vibe, like eating at your grandma’s house in Korea.

“This place is great. We were greeted by them and they asked us to wait while they set the table. We happened to catch them at a good time because as soon as we finished ordering the food, the restaurant filled up quickly. The food didn't disappoint. Sometimes what looks good on Instagram doesnt translate in real life. The boys wanted Katsu so they ordered 2 but we honestly only need 1. Pro tip, if you ordered the Katsu and the garlic su yuk, eat the katsu first. Once you have a bite of the 10 hours sous vide pork belly, everything else just tasted tough. Trust me... i was loving the tender pork katsu until I bit into the sous vide pork. After that there was no going back. By the way, the bathroom is clean which is a plus

“Best double-fried chicken/ korean-style chicken. Plenty of flavors to choose from. I always get the half & half to get 2 flavors. And it seems also best value for the quality. These come with crispy curly fries. Yum! I cannot recommend more. Hope you enjoy“

“I believe I’ve found the best jjampong in town. The photo is the other half portion I’m trying to finish but couldn’t. For $16 this could easily feed 2 ppl, very generous potion and the broth is super flavorful.
Recommend and would come back again to try other items!“

“I dined in this past Friday and place was good. Mostly, the service and food was on point. I was exceptionally impressed with the service. The server that took care of us was very attentive. She took our order and checked up on us promptly. I accidentally dropped my chopsticks during my meal, and even then, she immediately got me a new pair of chopsticks. I believe that taste is most important for a restaurant, but service must be matched to the qualify of good to have a complete experience. This restaurant offered great food and service. The only thing i'd complain about is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The utensils weren't very clean and had tiny debris on them (probably food particles that weren't washed out) and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant wasn't up to par with food and service.“

“Newish spot next to HMart that sells Korean fried chicken. Compared to some other Korean Fried Chicken places I've tried, the wings here definitely stands out!The meat is tender and comes right off the bone cleanly and you can see the juices flowing out when you bite in. It's kind of amazing how juicy it is.It is a bit of a wait, but I was given some coleslaw and pickled radish when I dined in. Each table has wet wipes to clean your hands after and a metal bin to discard bones.“

“Owner boss lady was so lovely and helpful. She came out and explained all the food and how to eat for my non Korean fam. Gave the touch that only an owner operator can.
Jokbal was perfectly cooked, clean and delicious. The hardest part of making this dish is getting out the sometimes overpowering porky flavor that can come with pigs feet. Nailed it!
Same thing with the bo ssam. The meat was tender, cabbage quick salt pickled to perfection. Soondae was also splendid. Soft and chewy without the grit. All the banchan had that 손맛 like your momma made it. Kiss my teeth, delicious.
Wonder why they don't have a full service restaurant, the food certainly is worthy of more than a food hall at Hmart. Next time I have a gathering I know where I'm going.“
“Extremely good crab dish for about $40 but you get a whole fresh (raw) crab and they show you how to eat it so I was quite happy about it. The server opened up the crab and squeezed the meat out right there for you. I didn’t expect this awesome food performance from the food court type restaurant. Other Korean dishes are very good too. My favorites are the seafood pancake and the tofu soup. Totally worth a stop! One of the not many places I want to be back!“

“I know there is a long wait time. But trust me, this is worth a wait. Place has the top notch all you can eat with so many varieties. But what it makes the perfection is the customer service of the wonderful servers. Although they are very very busy running around but their service will leave smiles on your face.“
“I've been coming to this restaurant for a while now, and it's honestly one of my favorites for Korean food. So far I've tried the jajangmyeon, bibimbap, ramen, tteokbokki, galbi (beef ribs), bulgogi (beef), and gimmari (seaweed vegetable rolls). Everything I've gotten off the menu so far is so delicious! My favorites are the bulgogi, jajangmyeon, and galbi! The food is always fresh and hot when you pick it up. Aside from the food, the staff is always so kind and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking to try Korean food.“

“I like the big portion of this restaurant. I went 2 people so we ordered 2 dishes. We tried: 1. Pork Back Bone Stew: very huge portion. The meat is soft and you can feel the broth has been well cooked that gives you the sweet and rich taste. 2. Stir Fried Squid (because I love squid!): very good. This dish can be eaten with rice (if you want to be full) or will paired good with a taste of Soju. The portions are big so don't over ordering or you will have some food to go. The food is a little plaint and there's salt to add (if you are a salty food fan) to assure you don't leave the broth behind. You will feel healthy as you leave the place. Will be great to have for hangover or when you are sick. I went on a weekend night for dinner and the restaurant was a little quiet. I think this place is most suitable for lunch. I would definitely come back to try their other stews and pork belly!“

“The amount of stir-fried squid and sari is good for the price. I also highly recommend the seasoned whelk! The stir-fry stew is not bad. However, the green onion pancake is not so good, so please keep that in mind! (Updated)
The amount of seasoned whelk was so large for the price that it seemed like it could feed 4 people, and it was delicious.“

“All the 1-star reviews are from people who got lost and couldn’t find the place. It’s really not that hard, just drive a little bit further down Fern and you’ll see the signage and gate as the entrance is in the back-lot of the business plaza where Lux Spa is.
The host was extremely nice and the food tasted great. Planning on returning to try more of the menu and the extensive drink selection.“
“Best cold noodle (naengmyung) restaurant in OC- It's better than K-Town's naengmyung. The only issue is that lines are long so long- uber long. My friends usually wait for an hour. Parking is not easy either. You have to go around to find parking. But it has the best naemyung so it is worth it. Just come prepared to look for parking and wait a bit- and you will be rewarded with delicious naengmyung.“

“Food is always amazing here. My family only comes here for Korean BBQ. There are hundreds of other options nearby but you just can't beat the quality of the meat and the service. There's a reason why a line is formed before they open... especially on weekends.“
