“I was so heartbroken when they closed their LA ktown location so I followed them down here. This location is inside the HMart Eatery and does individual portions (as opposed to the jeongol build your own format from ktown). The flavors are just as good, just on a smaller scale. The soup has a rich bone broth base for a deep flavor. Their kimchi banchan is incredible!
They also do bingsoo; the strawberry flavor was really good. The owner is incredibly kind too.

“Tteokboki like you never had before

If you're a fan of tteokbiki then this place elevates that experience.

From the customization and selection, it was a delicious experience .

If I had a choice between fried chicken and tteokbiki ( they sell both) i would normally eat more chicken.

But in this instance, I kept going back for tteokbiki more and more, completely forgetting the chickens existence.

This isn't do downgrade the chicken, the chicken was absolutely delicious, but I kept going back for more rice cakes.

“Mhat Korean Restaurant may be a small spot, but it delivers authentic Korean flavors and a really satisfying meal.

We ordered the Dak Galbi (Stir-fried Spicy Chicken) with a side of mozzarella cheese, along with an order of fried dumplings. The dak galbi was packed with flavor, and we appreciated being able to adjust the spice level to something a little milder. Adding the mozzarella was definitely the right call, it melted into the spicy chicken, making the dish even richer and creamier while balancing the heat beautifully. The fried dumplings were crispy, flavorful, and made a great side.

The best part of the meal was saving room for the fried rice at the end. They cooked it right in the leftover dak galbi sauce, soaking up all of the rich, spicy flavors. It’s definitely the way to finish the meal and something I highly recommend ordering.

The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but the food is authentic, the portions are satisfying, and everything came together for a great dining experience. If you’re craving dak galbi, this place is well worth checking out.“

“Never wasting my time at a chain tofu house again after coming here, this one seems like a small, family owned business. Makes sense because the staff was very attentive and kind. 10/10 service. There were also some new items which was a nice surprise. The employees were very friendly and helpful. St the last minute, I added some additional items and the items came out quicker than expected.“

I got a build your own mini bowl with Beef and Dalcom (spicy&sweet) sauce. As a Korean, I knew this place was going to be good because they use actual kimchi and Korean gochujang sauce. But they also have other toppings and sauces.

Recently, I ate kimbap from The Source at 1.5x the price as the one here, and the quality was so bad that it made me miss the taste of the one I ordered from here. “We came here craving a hearty, authentic meal, and it completely exceeded expectations. We ordered their signature Gamjatang and it was phenomenal. The broth is deeply flavorful, rich, and simmered to perfection with tender pork bones that practically fall off the bone.“

It feels like a secret because it’s as cozy and comforting as grandma’s house. This is a spot where everyone goes to for Sundubu (Korean Spicy Tofu Soup served boiling hot), or if they want Naengmyeon (Korean Buckwheat Noodles in a icy tangy broth) on hot summer day, or Bibimbap (Stone-pot Korean mixed rice filled with vegetables and meat with a spicy gochujang sauce and sesame oil)—just something comforting, and what they’re used to. Good set of 반찬 (side dishes) and the portions were large. I ordered the 갈비탕 (rib soup) and it had large pieces of meat that fell off the bone.“

“Han Yang is good. It’s also wonderfully old school. Nothing about the place feels particularly interested in being redesigned for Instagram, which I appreciate. You come here for Korean comfort food, metal dishes of banchan, enormous bowls of soup and stone pots hot enough to continue cooking your dinner while you eat it. And that stone pot is where I’d start.

The gondre dolsot bibimbap was fantastic. Gondre is Korean thistle and here it gets worked through the rice with the egg, seaweed and everything else until the whole thing becomes earthy, savory and deeply satisfying. But the best part comes underneath. Leave it alone long enough and the rice against the stone develops that beautiful scorched crust, nurungji, which you eventually scrape loose and mix back through everything.

That combination of the greens, sesame, egg and crispy rice is ridiculously good. There are dishes you finish because you’re hungry and dishes where you keep digging around the bottom of the bowl because you’re convinced there must be another good piece hiding somewhere. This was the latter.

The galbitang was more complicated for me. The beef itself was excellent. Generous pieces, tender, falling easily from the bone and soft enough that our kids loved it. Plenty of green onion, too. My issue was the broth. I prefer galbitang on the restrained side so I can decide where it goes from there. Same reason I like seolleongtang arriving almost defiantly plain, give me the broth and let me dress it up myself with salt, saeujeot or whatever else I want.

Han Yang has already made those decisions for you. The galbitang broth was noticeably sweet and salty and eventually it became a little much for me. That’s preference as much as criticism, plenty of people will probably love it exactly as it arrives. I just wanted the volume turned down.

The banchan was similarly mixed but mostly good. The napa kimchi was solid and nicely balanced. The kkakdugi was particularly good. The mustard greens, however, were ferociously sour. I like fermented food. These had me physically wincing.

The dipping sauce for the galbi was excellent, though and I kept going back to it. Rice was average and a little dry. It did its job.

Service was good and the whole experience was easy. The room itself has some age on it, tables are fairly close together and depending on where you’re seated you may find yourself with a commanding view of the bathroom door. Nobody has ever requested the chef’s table at the restroom, but here we are.

Somehow I don’t particularly mind any of it. Han Yang feels like a restaurant that knows what it is. It isn’t polished into anonymity. People are here eating giant bowls of soup, mixing rice in scorching stone pots and getting on with their lives. And when a restaurant can put something as good as that gondre bibimbap in front of me, I can forgive a dry bowl of rice and a bathroom with excellent sightlines.

Absolutely coming back. And next time, I’m getting that bibimbap again.“

“Love Gangnam Kimbob so much. Very laid back atmosphere. Service is always hospitable and upbeat. Food options are plentiful and delicious. You also get a lot for your dollar here imo. The kimbop is very filling and always leaves me feeling good about my choice to eat out given the portion of veggies contained within. I usually cycle between the tonkatsu, tempura shrimp, ssam and spicy ssam kimbops, while my wife loves to order their shin ramyun. They also have some interesting combos for lunch and dinner I’ve yet to try, but come with a variety of food that seem like a great option when you don’t only crave one thing. I can’t recommend this place enough.

“My wife and I aren't Korean but we've tried quite a few restaurants in our years living in socal. Overall a very solid place. I got #5 the beef rice soup and it was pleasantly rich with a touch of spice. Sides were excellent and fresh. If we lived in LA and not SD, I'd probably make this a regular place for a cheap good soup noodle“

“This is THE spot for gamja tang in the OC. The soup base here is spot on. It's just so savory and smooth and flavorful. The steamed pork cabbage wraps are to die for. And our family's favorite dish is their potatoe pancakes! It's one off the most delicious thing you'll ever eat! I love that the had Sunkist grape soda today, which was the cherry on top!“

“I was going back to the yard to part my semi and I thought I’d get something quick to snack on at the corner store but it wasn’t open. The next thing open beside it was LUCKILY Tokyo Grill! I was hungry and I was going to wait til I got home but I decided to get the chicken bowl because I saw it was 9 bucks. I didn’t expect much as I took it to my truck and man was I blown away. The flavor of the chicken was so delicious and the amount of ingredients they put into the bowl is unbelievable. It had green beans pineapple carrot slices cabbage and some other vegetables. “Saw this place driving by and decided to try it. Food quality was amazing and I would say it’s very similar but BCD but the seafood was fresher. What brings it over the top is the amazing service.
