This is always one of my fav places in CA. The broth was rich and comforting, with just the right balance of savory flavor that made each spoonful satisfying. This bowl of cháo really hit the spot and is a must-try.

We went to Chao Dem last night, and it’s usually one of our favorite late night spots since they are open so late. The chao itself is very good and comforting, and the ginger nước mam that comes with it is sweet, tangy, and well balanced. I personally prefer the chicken over the duck, but the chao overall is still wonderful. It also comes with a cabbage salad on the side, which adds a nice freshness and lightness to the dish.

I’ve come here often for the Chao ga. But our last visit, they serve the regular chicken that you can get from any American store. 😑 They barely made any real renovations beside repainting and reupholstered the torn seating and already cutting down on quality. C’mon now. Also, charging $2 for hot water???
