The bun cha Hanoi leaves a lot to be desired. The broth is too sweet and they use bacon instead of chunks of pork belly, this gives the broth a really strange bacon flavor. It doesn’t taste much like the real thing, if you’re looking for authentic Hanoi flavors, look elsewhere.

Not a place for ToGo. Cold, over cooked meat, dry. Not convenient togo container for the food.

The Nem Chua Rán is good but the Bún Chả is okay. Today we ordered Bún Chả and the Chả (meat loaf) was still raw inside. The owner offered replace or giving us a drink to appologize but we declined and they said will improve that next time
I did not have a positive experience at Hanoi Old Quarter. My fish dish was served with cold noodles. It also did not come with any vegetables or lettuce. Also, they show pictures of drinks that you can buy, but they actually don’t serve any of the pictured drinks. I will not be back.

The food taste ok, nothing special, expensive and smaller portion than competitors in the area. Ordered a fish cake noodle soup and got a single tiny cake. Also first time order a Ha noi dry noodle and it came with a side tofu. Started eating and the wife said it's kind of strange it came with tofu, ask the waiter and he said wrong table, he then took it to another table instead back to the kitchen. Very unhygienic, god knows what we did to that tofu and they just served it to another customer without checking.

The food took so long to come out. We had to wait more than 30 minutes after they took the order and they even served the party came after us first. They don’t have a card machine and take cash, Venmo or zelle only. Ice water was warm. Food was good but we won’t come back.
Randomly ended up here after taking a 3-hour road trip on a whim—to Long Beach, and then Garden Grove not much farther. Intentionally over-ordered so as to have leftovers for folks at home, but could have overeaten and finished everything as it was all so good. Got the spring rolls, crunchy and crabby and delicious, and the crab/shrimp udon, which hit the spot. Others around had plates cooking on their tables—this wasn't the case for me. Also got a jasmine green tea w/ mango jam, so as to begin the caffeination that will get me home tonight :) A 10-minute wait for seating on a Sunday evening at 6:30pm not so bad, but bears mentioning. Probably the most popular restaurant at the Mall of Fortune here.

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. When my boyfriend politely asked about the “review to get free drinks” promotion, they acted annoyed and dismissive instead of explaining. There were also no clear instructions about anything, and when I asked for an extra bowl, they seemed irritated again. Their attitude completely ruined our mood and our day. I definitely won’t be coming back, and I hope the management seriously looks into improving their customer service.

My mom got Bun Dau Mam Tom and I got Banh Canh Tom Cua Cha Ca. Both are so good in flavors and affordable in prices. We will definitely come back again.

What a fantastic find! Hanoi Old Quarter is an absolute gem and deserves every bit of its five stars.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, truly capturing the spirit of Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food.
Now, for the main event: the food. It was simply superb. We started with the Nem Rán (Northern style fried spring rolls), which were perfectly crisp and flavorful. For the mains, the Bún Chả was the best I've had outside of Hanoi itself! The grilled pork was tender and smoky, and the dipping sauce was an amazing balance of sweet, sour, and savory. We also tried the Phở Bò (Beef Noodle Soup), and the broth was rich, clear, and deeply aromatic—a true testament to authentic Northern preparation.
If you are looking for an authentic, delicious, and positive dining experience specializing in Northern Vietnamese food, look no further than Hanoi Old Quarter. I am already planning my next visit! A must-try!
