Had lunch there this week. Sadly we were the only ones in the joint. Food was quite tasty and the atmosphere was nice.

This place used to be called another restaurant but for the life of me, I cannot recall....anyways, food took a while to come out dish by dish. This was only the negative part, other than that, amazing flavor and aroma that excites the eyes and stomach. All the dishes has their own unique taste. Even dessert was decent, most places are cheap in quality, but our dishes were made with emphasis to make a lasting impression to remind you to cone back try other plates on your next visit.

Mother Tew's Exquisite Thai Cuisine is an Asian Fusion Restaurant in Garden Grove. Yesterday my wife and I went there to eat dinner. They have a moderately large space where they can easily accommodate up to 60 or 70 people. They also have a medium-sized banquet hall where any social events can be arranged. The ambience of this place was cool, intimate, and romantic. The staff was nice and polite. However, we had both bad and good experiences. The only negative thing about this place was their service. Yesterday their service was super slow. We checked in at 7:55 PM and we had to wait around 10 minutes to order food. And then again, we waited around an hour to get food!!! When we asked them regarding their delayed service, they told us that they are understaffed, there’s a banquet and most of them are serving there (we were literally upset and about to leave the place but later changed our mind)! This Thai place has a lot of positive things as well. They served one of the finest Thai Cuisine that we tried so far in Southern California. We ordered Shrimp Egg Rolls, Chicken Satay, Fried Rice with Chili, Basil & Chicken, Drunken Noodles with Beef, and Mango Sticky Rice. The food was amazingly fresh, delicious, decorated, and cooked with perfection! The meat (both Chicken and Beef) was well cooked, and the spice level was moderate. Previously I have eaten Thai food at a bunch of Thai places but most of the time I experience heartburn lately because of the spice but this time I didn’t have such experience. And last but not the least, their desserts are simply so good! We liked all the items we ordered but Mango Sticky Rice was the game changer. It was tantalizingly delicious and beautifully decorated. We later came to know that the Chef of this place used to work at a 5 Star Hotel, and he has already shown the sign of that delicacy through the food as well as the decoration. A big thumbs up to the Chef for his nice work. The price seems alright considering the quality, amount, and decoration of the food. Hopefully we will come back to this place again in near future expecting their service would be way better at that time!

Mother Tews in garden grove is elevating Thai cuisine with their stunning desserts and dishes. Their presentation is impeccable an portions are great to share. My favorite dish is their $25 fried fish with mango salad. Look at how big the fish is. It is fried perfectly light and crispy and topped off with a thai salad the combination is definitely a a must try. I got their beef tongue too. It is so goood. Thick cut and super tender and really yummy dipped in their spicy sauce. They also have stunning desserts. Presentation is amazing here and good for large parties.I also tried their coconut soup and khao soi noodles also coconut milk based. I felt these were lacking in flavor.Follow me on IG @waitfoodfirst for more

Mother Tew opened a few weeks ago at this site which was closed for a while. Dishes are trying to be authentic Thai. Pad see ew was done quite good with wok smoke taste present. Tom yam Koong was a bit lacking in richness. I think they made it without the head on shrimp. The grilled tongue should have been cut smaller with more grill marks to bring out the beefy flavor. There is enough parking in front of the restaurant.

This is the perfect Thai restaurant for a date night, bestie/girls/ friends night or to host a birthday/celebratory/ work dinner event!
Mother Tew’s has plenty of parking space, can host maybe up to 200 people! There’s plenty of tables and there’s even a separate room for bigger parties!

The aesthetic is very clean and very dreamy! There’s a tree, water and fire elements and I love how it was incorporated in the interior and the food!

The food is amazing! With all the flavors packed in all the food we ate, so surprised they do not use MSG! I mean all the umami! A lovely woman by the name of Chef Dao renders food she grew up eating from the heart and it shows in the dishes! I love this place and we will definitely be back!

What we got:

1 Drinks we got Thai Tea and Thai Coffee, the staples that go well with all the food!

2 Appetizers:
Chicken Satay- the kids’ favorite! The satay is really good with or without the sauces!
Shrimp egg rolls- perfectly deep fried egg rolls with shrimp inside are wonderful
Our Dinner choices:

Crab fried rice- Thai fried rice with crab is really tasty and has a good serving of crab that you can def taste in every bite!
Tom kha with shrimp- my favorite coconut soup, definitely warmed us up and didn’t disappoint!
Soft shell crab curry- soft shell with curry sauce served with thin vermicelli noodles is a must try if you love curry like me! Has the perfect kick and umami!
Crispy Duck leg in Tamarind sauce- the tamarind sauce complements the crispy duck leg well, honestly not a huge fan of duck but this changed me!
Grilled Beef with Thai grape sauce- the amazing grilled steak, with Thai grape sauce, the citrusy taste of the sauce goes really well with the steak.
The River Prawn Volcano- was the showstopper of the night! Served with inside a flaming volcano, these giant prawns are served with sweet corn and Chef’s secret sauce!

For desserts:
Both too pretty to eat, but sooo delicious!
Mango sticky rice- came with fresh cut mangoes, purple sweet rice, and mango sherbet and what popping boba! It’s literally and explosion of different textures going in your mouth! Surprisingly a good size that can be shared but I ate it all!

Ginkgo longan- with the coconut granita and jelly drenched in ginkgo longan juice, it was soo good for something that sounds so healthy and traditional!
