Abelitos Mexican Food

Born and raised in San Diego and this brought back memories of my teenage and early 20's. The flavor of the carne asada, chips, guacamole, and hot sauce are what San Diego Mexican food was like in the early 2000's. Abelitos cooks quality Mexican food that brought the nostalgia back. This will be my go to Mexican whenever in the area.

The food preparation lacks consistency. The quality of the food varies significantly depending on the cook. For instance, the hard shell tacos sometimes taste great, while other times they taste like canned tomato sauce on top of the chicken. These inconsistencies are the main reason I won’t be returning. 👎

If you get the drive thru the food is always luke warm or cold really sux

I went here with my partner last week. Great price AND great taste. Cashier was super friendly and they hand you bottles of salsa if you dine in- definitely not skimpy with salsa! We got the California burrito, lengua burrito, and an horchata. All for around 30! Other places would've been around $40 with a drink! The portions are great too! Meats were super flavorful. I also love that they're open late. Definitely our new go to place for mexican food! :)

The food was a solid 7/10 the tacos taste like TJ tacos lol but It was good and clean. Good customer service.

Wasted my time waiting in drive thru, nobody replied.. nothing.. someone was inside hanging by the drive through window, completely oblivious i was there. At least taco bell responds/ notices your there.

My biggest concern when recommending places is consistency and this place delivers. Everything is fresh made. The staff is courteous and generous. The kitchen and dining area is spotless. I love their crunchy shredded beef tacos and their nacho fries are huge! Even the mid size could feed 3-4 people. I rarely dish out all 5s! Highly recommend!

I recently visited Abuelitos and had a bit of a letdown. My order was incorrect, and I felt like I didn't have much control over what I wanted. Also, no utensils or napkins were provided. Hopefully, they can work on their ordering process and customer service. Maybe it was just an off day?

I have been looking for new Mexican food spot and heard good things so I tried Abelitos out. We dined inside and loved the food. Reasonably priced too at $9-10 for burrito as opposed to $15 at other places. The service was fantastic as well and the dining area was very clean. We will be going back this weekend to try the Menudo.

Ordered Super Nachos w/out sour cream, meat, or cheese
They also removed everything else and told me it wasn't included (not true according to their menu)
The fresh lime and salsa that came with was appreciated
The nachos were bad and I ended up throwing most of it away despite being hungry
Writing at 1am after a long stressful shift; so take my review with some salt
