Tan Cang Newport Seafood Restaurant exceeded expectations with their lobster and stir noodle dish. The lobster was impeccably cooked, boasting freshness and tenderness. A perfect blend of flavors in the stir noodle complemented the dish, leaving us thoroughly satisfied.

The owner is very rude and unprofessional,Be careful when ordering Crab or Lobster expensive but have only little meat and the very important is the food was terrible ... Ask them to weigh the Lobster or Crab in front of you so you don’t get fooled by them. Best to go somewhere else, I was so upset when I left, paid too much and the food have no taste , of course I will ever never go back.

Tan Cang Newport Seafood in Garden Grove is only a couple blocks away from their sister restaurant in Santa Ana. This restaurant seemed less busy than the sister store so we opted to come here. The food here is very authentic Chinese food. It's exactly what you'd expect from a decently high quality Chinese dish standpoint. Each of the dishes we got tasted well made and fresh. The only dish I wasn't a huge fan of was the walnut shrimp, which had too much mayo and not enough of the other flavors I was expecting. I'd have to add that this was a very expensive meal, mostly attributing to the expensive lobster which was $28.99 per pound. Overall a good meal but the price is a bit much for what you're getting.

The lobster is always a must try-dish. It’s live, full of meat. It’s well seasoned and famous for their special home sauce. The lobster is well cooked, fresh tasty, juicy, chunky and a bit of spiciness makes it more delicious. Normally it will pair with noodles, this time was alone and I order rice as my side dish. The smallest lobster was ca. 3lbs.The crab in salty spicy sauce is super good too. The shell is thin, the crab meat is still fresh, soft.Chè is free of charge till run out. It’s traditional chinese cooking style, less sweet and tender. I’m addictive to it, and always ask for it as my appetizer :)

It's been a long time since me and my husband enjoyed the food from a restaurant this much. We ordered Special lobster with noodle, "honey mayonnaise shrimp?" (Number 80 on the menu), Tan Cang frogs, and Clamp with rau que (Nghêu xào ở rau quế). Everything is delicious and steamy hot, and the free dessert (chè) is a beautiful touch for the end of the meal. The service is amazing too. I really enjoy talking with two ladies there.Would definitely come back here. I will bring family and friends to come here to eat for sure

This is my 4th time coming here and it is now clear it just is what it is, it's not going to get better. Their lobster was not bad but its more expensive than all the other Chinese restaurants. We had almost everything else on the menu, they are all bland, it's the same generic brown sauce. My 1st time coming here for lunch, we were surprised the place was empty, later a few people came in, it's always mobbed at night. Their lunch price is really reasonable, $10.95 to $11.95. The eggplant was OK, I had it better at all the other restaurants, the fried oysters was so bland, not fluffy fried like everywhere else, the crab and asparagus soup was just not edible, so bland, they forgot to put salt, I added a lot of soy sauce, nothing worked, it's not authentic. The only delicious item was the salt and pepper shrimp which btw was almost amazing everywhere else. I had many other items before they were all 2 stars. The only reason I rate 3 stars was the good service and friendliness of the servers, the food alone it would just be 2 stars, I have no idea why this place is mobbed nightly. Seafood world is much better on Brookhurst n Mc Fadden unfortunately they don't know much about marketing and the parking lot has homeless people, they might go out of business, life is unfair. We had a nice and peaceful lunch w our daughter, they did not offer free tea here as is customary w every Chinese restaurant in OC, it's not free in LA County. Sorry but I'm not going back.
