DO NOT BUY cakes there. They sell cakes that have been baked for several days and are not freshly made. I came today (7/21/24) for the first time because I saw in general acceptable reviews and the desserts looked appetizing in the photos so I bought a piece of tiramisu cake for $5.00. I started eating it and it tasted too dry and a bit hard (as we know a tiramisu is not dry or hard). Then, after looking at the outside of the cake, I realized it had mold present. I was eating it outside the bakery next to my car (they don't have tables or chairs for customers to eat inside), so I immediately came back and asked the gentleman (an Asian in his 50s) how many days ago that cake was baked and he said that all the cakes they sell are no more than 2 or 3 days old. Then I showed him the rest of the cake that I had on my plate and showed him the presence of the mold. He immediately understood the situation and without me asking him he returned me the $5.00 I paid for it. The gentleman was kind and knew how to properly handle the situation, but it is very irresponsible of the owners of this place to sell cakes that are not freshly made and still charge the public full price knowing that their items were made several days ago and as we know, edible items begin to decompose immediately after preparation. As I told that gentleman, it was the first and last time I frequented this business. I hope they watch this review and pay attention to the quality of their products for sale (and I hope I don't get sick or poisoned from the portion of cake I ate). This review was done in good faith and hopefully they see it as an opportunity to improve things for their customers but after checking the lower reviews on Google I saw several more people also complaining about moldy desserts. If I had a business that sold edible items, I would make sure all my products were fresh every day and would never sell items made several days ago that are already spoiling. Edible items that are not sold the same day they are made should be donated to a charity or to people who cannot afford to pay for food, that is what a normal bakery with ethics and values does.
It is very irresponsible and greedy of a business owner to conduct business that way. If you want to get the best freshly made desserts and pastries go to Porto's in Buena Park, period.

They did a great job with our wedding cake. Got what we wanted and it looked great with the flowers we gave. Very reasonable price. Though sadly they couldn't do any vegan options but it's ok, I didn't even have time to eat my cake because of the reception eing so busy. The delivery was on point, though I don't know if it was on time but it arrived in one piece. Great job, highly recommends.

Recent bride here and I had to share the amazing experience I had at Van's Bakery. They made it so easy to select the style and flavor of cake. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but Van was amazing providing expertise anywhere I had questions. They also have cake stands available to rent to make your cake have more wow factor without having to add an additional layer to the cake! I ended up not being able to use it because the table was too small and they took it back no problem. They are also able to deliver the cake as well which made my wedding day stress free! For the cake we had a strawberry cream layer (my favorite) and and coffee layer (my parents favorite) and my guest gave it the highest complement possible soft and not too sweet!

My family and friends in Orange County-California often come to Van's Bakery to buy cakes, candy, beef jerky and especially delicious coffee. We then moved to Texas but continued to buy and they delivered to our door fast and on time. The dedicated service of the Owner and staff is commendable. Vietnamese friends should stop by and buy products from Van's Bakery, famous in Little Saigon Vietnamese community. As 2024 begins, we wish Owners and staff a Happy & prosperous New Year! Nguyen Family.

The mocha cake is delicious!!
Flower bomb yummy delicious
Bought $160 worth of moon cake as gift and for our own enjoyment. Found one molded from the inside. Don't know how many others had the same issue. This is the second time this happens to us. First time about two years ago, they didn't even bother with refunding when we wanted to return a box of unopened cake with receipt. This time we'll see, I either change it to a 1 star or a 3 star, depending on how they respond. They could just lose this customer forever. There will not be a third time.
