Bad customer service

A family member from out of town was requesting Vietnamese style beef jerky and so I was honestly dreading the thought of dealing with those rude, pushy sales ladies over at Vua Kho Bo (read those reviews - it's not just me). Anyway, after trying to find a suitable alternative, I came across Van's review of Kho Bo Snackworld. Could it really compare? I looked at the location and groaned a bit - it's in one of the busiest shopping centers in Little Saigon - at the corner of Westminster and Brookhurst, next to Boiling Point. Again, the thought of the rude sales ladies at Vua Kho Bo was all it took to convince me to make the drive over here instead. Parking is easy - if you go right after the busy lunch hour or before dinner, you can have your choice of almost any spot in the parking lot. The store was empty when I walked up to it - but I was quickly greeted when I walked in. There is a good variety of beef jerky, dried snacks and candy. The owner lady was very friendly and courteous - she asked me if it's okay if the weight for each bag (I wanted (2) 1 pound bags of the fruit-flavored beef jerky) was slightly over. That's understandable when it comes to beef jerky - I told her it was fine as long as it's not crazy over like the folks at VKB - and she chuckled - word gets around about those people over there! It was a quick in and out - she even helped pressed the excess air out of the bag since I told her I planned to ship it - before she sealed it. Will definitely come back depending on whether the recipients like the product or not! Overall, considering the "service" at Vua Kho Bo - this is my favorite place! The prices are almost comparable to VKB, with their jerky at $26/lb.

Ever get in the mood for some jerky but dont know where to get some, well look no further folks snack world is the place mom and pop shop super nice will let you sample the whole spot if your a dick like that. Now it doesn't just have jerky if your a health nut thay have dried fruit and snacks from chili mango to banana chips. Looking for a sweet treat tho? They got you too on that with rings belts and wrapped candy P.s. the jerky is Vietnamese style so soft and tender

Spent about $50 dollars worth of beef jerky. It was really good. We tried a few samples and got a pound of one type and half pound of another. Also got a few sour strips for the plane ride home. Takes credit card but not American Express.

They are pretty much the same as Vua Kho Bo minus the higher price tag and the ladies who would surround you to offer samples and get you to buy more. The elderly gentleman who helped us was very nice and honest. He took and weighed only precisely to the amount that we asked and did not try to push us to buy anything more than what we wanted. They carry everything that other beef jerkey and snack places sell and the taste is exactly the same so I think they must all come from the same source. The price here is a few dollars cheaper per pound so I'll come here instead from now on. Parking is a bit hard to find in this plaza but if you're willing to walk a bit further there's always going to be spaces.

Great place for snacks and kind service. Get the jerky you need for your alcohol sides or to make Vietnamese jerky salad. They also have candy and dried candied fruits. Definitely will come back!

I was looking for items to make banh tran trong and I needed jerky as an ingredient. I was a little intimidated going into this place, because it seemed very empty but the owner/worker came out quickly. She was efficient and not pushy, yet not quite friendly. She let me try all the things I asked for without attitude, and I noticed the prices were quite high, but I'm not too familiar with these types of places to know if it's normal or fair. She didn't give me any samples. At the end she thanked me in Vietnamese and I replied in Cantonese and she was so surprised and started speaking to me in greater detail and asked me about my family, etc. She said she assumed I was Vietnamese and I dunno, I guess that made her wary? In the end, she was nice, and I got some yummy things, but I think it's less expensive at the Asian supermarkets, so I'm glad I got to try it but I'll just stick to the prepackaged goods, unless I can't find it.

Food is good, but needs more selection

Great selection of snacks! I dropped by thinking it was Vua Kho Bo aka King Beef Jerky but it's a mom and pop shop. They have from beef jerky, dried squid, o mai (dried apricots) to teas and candy. The grandpa behind the counter was super nice. Gave me and my mom a lot of samples. Wasn't pushy like Vua Kho Bo is. Didn't try to give me more than I intended to buy or upsell any products. The location is great, right next to Boiling Point, Boiling Crab and Skylark nails. Easy to find parking and they accept card! Would definitely come back for my snacking needs.

SNACK WORLD (Vua An Cho) is in a strip mall at the corner of Brookhurst and Westminster. You walk into a store and see rows of huge plastic bins filled with all kinds of dried and pickled goodies. Inside each bin is a little cup where you can take samples to try! They had such awesome treats like goberries, spicy mango, beef and fish jersey, watermelon and ginger candies, and various dried fishes. They list the item in Vietnamese and English on placard on top of the bin as well as the price per pound. Im not sure if the lady manning the store spoke English as the conversation was solely in Vietnamese between the owner and my friend. I suppose pointing is a universal language if I were to go back and English was not spoken. Snack World was a treat!

Love this place! Very reasonable and quality is comparable to Vua Kho Bo but the people here are super nice and honest. They don't ask you to try everything or pushy and follow you around making you buy more like at Vua Kho Bo, which is very annoying to me. This place is cute and more like a Moma Papa shop. We met a cute Grandpa and he was super kind and genuine. Definitely come again next time!

The green apple rings sprinkled with spicy ling ha IS THE BEST CANDY I HAVE EVER EATEN. I rolled up a little early before the store was open and the lady was kind enough to let me in before she set up shop (I might have actually let myself in...haha). Parking was easy since it was prettt early. Theres a bins and bins of Chinese candies, dried prunes, etc. After browsing for a few minutes, I grabbed 3 different items. Sour dried plums, sour dried apricots and spicy ling ha green apple rings. I cannot express my love for these green apple rings. OH MY GOD. If it's the only thing you buy in the store, just do it! The only downside to this place is it's kind of expensive. Maybe spent about $30 for candy but it's definitely cheaper than its competitor, Vua Kho Bo.

Kho Bo Snackworld Fo sho! I freaking love this place even though technically have never gone to this store, because I know a guy that knows a guy. :) I have tried the BBQ, Curry, Black Pepper, and Crush Red Pepper Beef Jerky. Everything has been good so far. There are also varieties of dried squid and dried fruits. I read that this place is too expensive. I disagree. Keep in mind that everything here is imported. Possibly from international vendors, but don't quote me on that. I get free delivery from the son of the owner. :) If you want free delivery call *****. Ha ha I couldn't do that to him. I work with B so it's all good. I admit I was skeptical at first, but this beef Jerky is for realls!! I had a college roommate that would always make free beef jerky for me and my friends. So, I can tell a quality product from a crap one. The price is roughly $20 a pound which is an awesome deal. I dare you to do the math on that Costco Jerky you may be paying $25 a pound. If you are buying a small pack of beef jerky from the gas station for a few bucks, you are paying exponential dollars per pound. This beef jerky is good and no preservatives from what I can tell. I can't say the same if you by it from a grocery store. Thank Mrs. T if you are readying this.. I am bowing down to you. You serve a very good Beef Jerky Product and I would eat this everyday if I could. Actually, I do thanks to B keeping my Jerky supply going. If you are in the area, check this place out. Note to self I should too. Highly Recommended!!

Pickled green plums, mangoes...Mung bean cakes....odd half candy store with gummies and taffy. Dried squid, fish jerky and dried little itty bitty crabs. I'm a pretty daring eater but some of the items they have here are just plain odd. My mom likes to come here to pick up dried pumpkin seeds and she swears by this place! Everything is weighed and sold by the pound and is exceptionally fair considering some of the wacky items here. Most ranged from $2 per lb to $14. I was even able to get some delicious coffee candy for $0.07 a pop! Just because some items are unusual and I'm sure that there are some tasty delicacies in this joint, I have to go with 3 stars!
