A good spot, but I got the sukiyakidon and they gave me like 5 pieces of meat with some tofu. Portion size could be a bit better, flavor was good. Also had beef curry and it’s alright for me. Good miso soup too

At the heart of the menu is their Sanuki Udon...a silky, springy noodle born in Japan’s historic Sanuki Province (now Kagawa Prefecture) on Shikoku Island. This isn’t just comfort food—it’s a taste of centuries-old tradition.

Bonus points: the menu is loaded with photos so you know exactly what deliciousness you’re ordering.

Generous portions, wallet-friendly pricing. I went for the Sukiyakidon which was hearty, flavorful, and satisfying.

Old-school interior that feels like stepping into a Japanese home kitchen.

Can be busy depending on the time thanks to all the great eateries in the plaza

I had the mini Katsudon combo (bottom) and my boyfriend had the Nikuyasai Soba (top) and as our first time here we were very impressed! Everything had so much flavor, our waiter was very attentive and kind. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for an authentic experience. Would definitely come again

You've got.to try the Age Mochi. It's a must! Like nothing I've ever had before. The whole place was awesome. Excellent service. Great decorations. Amazing food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Had a really great first time experience today! always searching for places to go whenever I'm in Torrance, portion sizes are perfect and personally I really like the sets cause you get more variety with the meal, really recommend the Age Mochi if you like unique textures and ginger tastes. Service was all over amazing, didn't wait long for our food at our server was very helpful and friendly about recommendations, for the Inari Sushi set and it didn't disappointm Definitely coming back here again.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Kotohira, the Japanese restaurant in Gardena! From the moment I entered, I was impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of traditional Japanese dining.

The menu offers an extensive selection of sushi, sashimi, and izakaya-style dishes. I ordered the chef’s special sushi platter, and it was absolutely fantastic! The fish was incredibly fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. I also tried the tempura, which was light and crispy – a real highlight!

The staff at Kotohira were friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout the meal. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese cuisine in Gardena, Kotohira should definitely be on your list. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their delightful offerings!

These people have no business owning a restaurant if they have no type of customer service. I had invited someone who was feeling sick, to a bowl of hot udon. I wasn’t hungry so I just went in with my friend, he ordered his food, and when a women asked what was going to order, I told nothing, I was just going to pay for my friends meal and be with him while he ate. He asked for a cup of water, when she came back she only handled him a cup of water completely ignoring me, I didn’t say anything. But that’s how you react when someone doesn’t order anything?!?! I’ve been to other places when even though I didn’t order any food, they serve me a cup of water as a courtesy for being a human being. This is their fake Asian money hungry mentality they have
