Do NOT go to the Gardena location on El Segundo. I am a firm believer and supporter of Black Owned Businesses, but this location will seriously test your patience and make you not want to support Black Owned Businesses. 1. The young lady that works the counter is highly disrespectful and rude. She has not only been disrespectful to me, but I have witnessed her curse at and be very disrespectful with other patrons in a way that I am surprised that those patrons did not attempt to snatch her from behind that counter. 2. They advertise food items that they never have in stock and haven't sold in over a year. 3. They purposely do not put prices on their platters. This allows them to change the prices without notification; your only notification is when they ring up your meal. 4. Wait time. Once I waited an hour and a half for a breakfast meal. Rather than tell me the wait time before I ordered so that I can make a decision if I wanted to wait that long, it was not until I had waited 30 mins was I then informed I had another hour wait. Then when I asked the young lady why didn't she tell me in advance I had to wait that long, she tells me in a nasty tone that she will refund me my money and I can leave. 5. No appreciation for customer support. Because of their location and the food platters being offered, they have a leg up on other businesses in that area. They are aware of this, and because of this they treat their customers with contempt and disrespect. They act as if they are doing you a favor to spend your money there. 6. I have eaten in restaurants all over the country and out of the country. I will never support this location again. Patronize the Gardena location at your own risk!

I’ve visited this establishment twice and both times the service wasn’t great. Both times there was a delay receiving my food, staff seems annoyed that they have to be at work, the black eye peas were extremely salty and the rest of the food was just ok. This establishment has potential but management may want to hold their staff accountable for how they conduct themselves with customers and fine tune some of the seasoning in some of the menu items.

Food was good. I ordered catfish, Mac n cheese, and yams. Mac n cheese is definely Mackin! Catfish could've had a little more seasoning in my opinion. I also like my batter a little more on the crispy crunchy side, but overall is was good. It's not too overpriced in my opinion, they also have good lunch specials and a 2 piece w either 1 or 2 sides on Tuesday and Thursday I think for 5.00. Place doesn't have alot of seating and the wait could be long depending on time and day.

Man, I have such a love hate relationship with this establishment. The food is absolutely delicious. Best that I’ve had in the area. However, the service and the operation on the other hand is very poor. They never answer the phone during business hours, and the cashiers are rude. My biggest gripe is the online ordering experience… it’s so inconsistent! Pricing varies all the time. Sometimes a side of yams is $7, sometimes it’s $9. Sometimes they’re not taking any orders online so it’s always a gamble when you want to dine at the Soul Food Shack. The Inglewood location is the better of the two.
