While shopping in the Tokyo Central store, a family member and myself decided to grab a bite to eat at this sushi place.

Getting there, we signed up for a waitlist through an iPad kiosk, which estimates a wait of ~25 minutes. It ended up being over an hour, and the website that kept me updated counted the ETA into negative minutes, and flooded my messages with “You’ve joined the waitlist” at least 10 times/minute, which forced me to block the number.

Seating at the table, we were a bit disappointed to find it was a order via conveyor system instead of the traditional roundabout system 回転寿司, which is a fault on our part (nothing on Waka, just a lack of research)

Both the person I was eating with and myself typically enjoy salmon skin hand rolls, so we decided to try it. We were very disappointed with what we received— minced salmon skin bits deep fried to the point of tastelessness and burnt texture crammed with carrot in a seaweed wrap. We decided to give a few other things a try, but things didn’t look too great:

Ordering the California roll, it was the price of real crab California rolls, but it was imitation and 75% mayo..

Ordering seared Wagyu nigiri, the prices were about 3x what it was in Japan, with lower quality and size meat with a funky gas taste (definitely not grilled on a teppan)

Ordering Inari, it wasn’t great but not horrible, but can you really go wrong with Inari?

At this point, we decided to just cut our losses and get something from the food market in Tokyo Central.

It didn’t help that all of the rice was soaked in red vinegar, which did absolutely nothing to help the taste, and seemed more like a gimmick more than anything.

Definitely would not repeat..

Vegetarian options: There are very few vegetarian options, which are not clearly labeled.

Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of kids seated and the atmosphere is generally light and casual, but the menu may not be the most appealing to all kids as most of it is nigiri and sashimi.

Wheelchair accessibility: This place is up a flight of tall stairs with no visible elevator. Additionally, all tables I saw were booths, and walkways inside were narrow.

An amazing "conveyor" belt sushi restaurant with high quality fish and great vibes. I use quotes because the belt is only used to deliver the food to your table as opposed to the rotating dishes. It's located inside of Tokyo central and there's gunna be a long wait for dinner but honestly.... it's such a great market to wander that you'll find the long wait to be fun.

Almost everything we ordered was delicious, mouth watering, and satisfying quality fish. The salmon quality is so butter smooth and I actually recommend the salmon party if that's your favorite type of fish.

Most items are decently priced and you can totally get full off of 30 bucks if you order the lower tier stuff. Service was quick and friendly.

Tip: You don't need to order on the tablet lol it'll get your arm tired from swiping the fixed screen. Just scan the QR code and order through your phone.

Better to buy your food downstairs it will taste much better!! Just a matter of time before this overpriced, subpar restaurant will close. For $65 you can get twice as much food downstairs, maybe even 3 times more!

Food is good! Of course not 100% satisfying but with the price/value of what you get. Hard to find around in the area. Downside is they use cheap material cups and utensils, usually restaurants like this uses porcelain cups and such but not the case here. And there isn't variety of items as I assume they want to keep it simple. Side note, one or two manager (she) is hard to get around so just keep it mind.

I really love this place, it’s a great (and better) alternative to something like Kura without breaking the bank or going too upscale. Solid spot with great food and attentive staff.

I heard there wasn't a line early on weekday mornings, so I went shopping with a friend today and went right after it opened. When I went there in April, the sushi was bad and everything was terrible, even though there was a line on the weekend. But today was completely different. The regular nigiri was average, and the quality of the medium fatty tuna and whelk was poor. However, the searing is at an artistic level. Salmon, scallops, wagyu beef, the degree of grilling, the amount of sauce, the aesthetic sense of the toppings, everything is top SS class. It's great quality and not worth the price. I like broiling and often eat it at high-end omakase restaurants, but the quality of the broiling here is truly amazing! As someone who eats more than 150 servings of sushi a year, I give my approval. Minus 2 stars is FOH. The staff were all amateurs, unfriendly, and out of touch. It's no good thinking that just because it's cheap, it's okay to have a bad server. Improve it!
