We had such a refreshing experience here. Very good wine. Maybe the best Rose we had in Sonoma. The winemaker Chris is hands on and hilarious. Bought some wine to be shipped and joining the wine club.
Friendly winemaker and great wines!
We stopped here with Platypus wine tour and it was great! Learned a lot about the wine making business and tasted great wines.
Had an amazing tour with Mr. Loxton. He educated us on the history and the wine which made it an incredible experience.
Chris is such a character in the best meaning possible for the phrase. His candidness is refreshing and his humor is delightful. The wines are absolutely wonderful and his patience to answer questions and share his love of his craft is icing on the cake.
Chris Loxton is a winemaker par excellence! Wine making is literally in his blood. Loxton's small-scale operation enables Chris to pour his blood and soul into every stage of the winemaking procress on a daily basis. While especially partial to his excellent Syrah/Shiraz and Syrah blends, we excitedly await what our next wine club shipment offers. And on chilly winter nights, nothing beats his Syrah-based ports.
Would highly recommend this experience. Chris was an amazing host with incredible history and insight into the wine making process. He takes his time to explain the overall process including his history and experience which is fascinating.
Love this port! Hubby and I went to Loxton eons ago and got this port. I only have a small glass on special occasions. Can’t wait to go back for a visit.
Pretty much spot on what others have already said, Chris the owner/winemaker was really gracious with his time and was willing to share a bunch of knowledge about winemaking and some local history and an extra treat was the bird watching on his property. Just an awesome experience if you want to learn in a relaxed setting
Great spot with great wine and a wonderful view! The Adirondack chairs under the tree were perfect! It’s a great value too! Go ahead and stop on by!

First stop of our visit to Sonoma and it was awesome! Nancy was super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable as we sampled their incredible selection of reds including Syrah and Cabernet. It’s brilliant value if you want a beautiful, quiet and easy going winery!
Wow! We were so lucky to visit Glen Ellen Loxton winery in Sonoma in my platypus tours! So nice to see & chat with such an amazing Aussie Winemaker in Sonoma/‘Napa! We tried his Rosè & that was fabulous! All the wines were exceptional! Well done to him! I should have said that as a fellow aussie but will do next time I visit! Well done! ?
The wines were delicious, the wine maker's assistant was so knowledgeable and meeting the winemaker Chris was so nice. We got to see his passion for making truly beautiful and distinctive wines.
Two stars just for the view, Grenache(or GSP), and the nice gentleman who allowed us to waive our tasting fee for qualified purchase, thanks. We (a group of 7) were there not too long ago and the pour was so small (10-15mL) After complaining the lady (Grace? Can’t recall exact name, a caucasian lady) even reduced the portion to a few drops. That was not a pleasant experience overall and we consider that as very rude.
The perfect small winery. Chris Loxton was a delight. His depth of knowledge and witty humor was only equaled by his outstanding wines. It’s hard to find better examples of varietal expression. No gimmicks or Mega Purple additives here- just excellent fruit and excellent wine making. Truly a diamond.
