Beard Papa’s is a guilty pleasure of mine and I’ll go out of my way to get my cream puff! I do not live in this area but frequent this mall several times a year. EVERY time I have tried to go in the past year, they are closed during displayed “open hours.”
In a previous instance, I’ve eaten an early 6pm dinner at Marugame, turned around to get a Beard Papa’s to see they closed EARLY.
Today at 1pm they were closed, once again. Disappointing to say the least - seemingly poor management. Business may be slow but you miss 100% of customers if you’re closed!
**(4.2/5)Bearded Papa’s Cream Puffs: Fluffy Indulgence with a Price Tag **
Bearded Papa’s, the beloved Japanese chain famous for its choux pastry puffs, delivers a whimsical treat that’s hard to resist. Walking into the brightly lit shop, you’re greeted by the irresistible scent of freshly baked shells and the rhythmic “puff-puff” of the filling machine. The menu is simple yet enticing: original vanilla, chocolate, matcha, or seasonal flavors like pumpkin or strawberry, all dusted with powdered sugar and optionally topped with crunchy toppings.
I opted for the classic vanilla custard puff ($3.99) and a chocolate éclair-style version ($4.29). The shell is where Bearded Papa shines—golden, airy, and crisp on the outside with that signature crackle when you bite in. The vanilla custard is silky smooth, rich with real Madagascar vanilla beans, striking a perfect balance of sweetness without being cloying. The chocolate filling was equally decadent, though slightly denser. Each puff is filled to order, ensuring maximum freshness and that satisfying ooze with every bite.
Portion-wise, one puff is a generous snack, but at nearly $4–$5 each (plus tax), it feels steep for what’s essentially a glorified donut hole. A box of six runs over $20, which stings when you’re craving more than one. The quality justifies *some* premium, but it’s hard not to wince at the register.
Service is quick and cheerful, and the playful branding adds charm. Bearded Papa’s is a delightful occasional splurge—perfect for impressing a date or curbing a sweet tooth. I’ll be back, but I’ll budget accordingly.
Beard Papa’s at the Glendale Galleria is a true dessert gem. Their cream puffs are incredibly fresh — light, crispy on the outside, and filled with the smoothest, richest cream. You can literally taste the difference the moment you take the first bite. The vanilla custard is classic and perfect, but the specialty flavors are amazing too.
The shop is clean, the display always looks tempting, and the staff is friendly and quick. Even when there's a line, they move fast and everything tastes like it was made just minutes ago.
If you have a sweet tooth or just want a treat while shopping at the Glendale Galleria, Beard Papa’s Dessert Palace is absolutely worth the stop. Delicious and fresh.
I love this place the person that cashed me and my lovely husband out yesterday was super polite and amazing thank you Joseph 🙏 will come again.
The are always out of everything.
It’s always “we only have what’s displayed” which is one or two flavors max and the same filling for all of them. They recently hired new people too but only the girls are nice. the guys are lazy and behave as if they wish you were not there to BOTHER them. Awful location. It’s a mall and it’s busy but you are telling your customers “you basically have nothing they want” so they have to settle for “what’s left”. Poor management if you ask me.
An adventure to find, wonderfully positive owner.

Very tasty cakes, I really love this place but the guy who works there!! It’s terrible, he’s always not happy, doesn’t say hello, and because of him I don’t want to come and buy anything there anymore!

It is located close to the food court. There is a seating area right in front of the store. The Service: Matthew was helping me at the counter. Super friendly and efficient. He prepared my giant creme puffs beautifully! The Dessert: There are 4 flavors of the cream filling, chocolate, vanilla, green tea and coconut. Super generous, every bit with overflow fillings.I always love their chocolate, strawberry and green tea eclairs. This time I wanted to try the fancy ones, Oreo crumble, honey butter and churro eclairs. OMG! They are my new favorites now! Definitely bring these creme puffs to the next level.I love to mix & match the shells with different fillings. Fresh baked pastries with nicely chilled fillings. They are perfect desserts or gifts for any occasion. The

Staff closed 15 min early
Came during my mom's birthday. It was delicious with a nice crunchy exterior and creamy inside. What made this place fantastic though was our cashier: Kevin! Gave excellent recommendations for what cream goes best with what puff :)

I was having issues with grubhub drivers today. I don't know what it is with Beard Papa's employees but they are so fantastic. Brooke who knew what was going on called and check if I was getting my order. She didn't have to call. She could have just given it to driver and just go meh but called and checked if I got it which I super appreciate when I was in dire need of something sweet today.
Tasty cream puffs! Original (vanilla) is the best. I also tried the churro puff with chocolate filling and it was tasty, but not as good as the original.
I love that iceream inside that bread, so yummy
