TUESDAY FOOD REVIEW...NEW MOON (again)...8/12/25! Coming back from Bullseye Glass, we stopped for lunch at New Moon, located at 2138 Verdugo Blvd., in Montrose, CA. We split their Wor Won Ton Soup, and we each had their famous The Original New Moon Chicken Salad. This soup is FANTASTIC, and is not salty whatsoever, as the vegetables and meats flavor it!!! And there are no words to describe just how UTTERLY AMAZING this salad is!!!! This restaurant is, BAR NONE, the ABSOLUTE **BEST** Chinese restaurant that I have ever eaten at, and the food is not only DELICIOUS, it consistently has the same GREAT FLAVOR no matter if you were here ten years ago, or if you eat here ten years from now!!!! That is a HUGE PLUS in my book!!!!!

Came here with friends on a Saturday night. When you walk in it is a bar but when you walk through the side its the restaurant. As an Asian I wouldn't call this place authentic Chinese food therefore my 3* rating. The food wasn't bad just doesn't taste like what I'm used to. The hot and sour soup wasn't spicy or sour, Kung pao chicken was missing that Kung pao flavor. I did like the wonton chips at the beginning and the beef chow fun along with beef chow mien. For the area of Montrose it's acceptable Chinese food.
I've been coming here for years. Good food and cocktails. Nice atmosphere.

It was a beautiful night and we sat on the patio. The waiter was very personable and very attentive and did a good job. I had the egg foo young which has been so long overdue I was absolutely titillated at the opportunity to actually eat it and it was good.

I've been a patron of new moon since it first opened. I come back again and again, because I love the food, the prices are very fair, the portions are huge and the staff are incredibly nice, kind and respectful of all. There is something for everyone and you are always made welcome and taken care of. I do visit at least two times a week and absolutely recommend it. It never gets old :)

I used to love their Chinese chicken salad, but for the last two times I’ve ordered it, I’ve been very disappointed. For the size of the salad it contains very little chicken and lots of greasy wonton. I feel like this is a poor value- Mostly lettuce and wonton. I won’t get it again.
