Review of Philz Coffee cafe
Location : 252 S Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA Date: Sunday 9/28/25
The African American barista who made my coffee was pleasant and cheerful. Bryce, the cashier was pleasant, professional, welcoming, and told me that they're glad that I came. I only spend my money where I'm appreciated. I have had Starbucks as a whole, on punishment for over 8 years until giving a few of them a try recently, after unfortunately noticing that some I've decided to give a chance since my boycott, are racist.
I ordered a hot light roast coffee with room (space at the top of the cup), along with a pup cup of steamed oat milk (I like to pour a bit in as I go. However, I was given my coffee apparently with the oat milk already in it, therefore they must have put just a splash. Not cool, you guys. If it did not take so long for my order to be ready (over ten minutes) I would go back up there and have them do it as I ordered it.
Nevertheless, the coffee is rich and tasty, and I'm going to assume that they put in my 3 raw sugar packets I requested while ordering, because I was not handed any at order pick up.
At least they answer the phone when you call, and the coffee is good. The air conditioning is a bit too much/too cold which obviously makes the coffee drinking experience unpleasant. It's a small cafe, so the tables/seating is very minimal, but there are some outside as well. There's a parking lot in the back of the building. They have (only a few) electrical outlets which are in the floor of a few of the tables and utterly disgusting, dirty and filthy. So I will have to use one of my antibacterial wipes to disinfect my cords and base and wipe the dirt, particles and debris off. The table marked as reserved for handicap customers has no outlet it's as filthy as all of the other tables (crumbs, particles, trash, germs, etc, etc., etc; as is the floors underneath and around each table.
The steamed oat milk is complimentary (unlike at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe's), the background music is in the background; unlike some Starbucks, where it's blasting. The Wi-Fi is smooth. The lighting seems cozy (not bright); I can tell by looking up at it despite it being day time right now.
I'm leaving here going to 'The Americana 18' up the block across the street; it's similar to the collection of shops, eats and such at 'The Grove' on 3rd and Fairfax but without the farmers market.

I never go back here again unorganized and dirty,nasty worker this is my first and last time I came to Philz coffee Paint wall have a lot of dust on it, it changed main color please don’t come here wast the time and money

I really don’t understand why this coffee shop have a lot of good reviews when you going inside the store is dirty and old You make a lot of money do some renovations And work are super slow you order you should 20 minutes to get your order
It is better to go to Starbucks fast same coffee quality and better people work there

They don't carry matcha even though their website says they do. Way understaffed. Took 30 minutes to get an iced coffee. Come on corporate, you can give these poor baristas more support can't you?

I won't visit this place again. I didn't understand the design and how clean this place is. You will notice how their products are not organized inside. This is a main Glendale street. Also, when I ordered Hot Latte with original milk, I was not warned that they don't use milk at all, but creamers only. Therefore, my drink was not latte, not cold, not hot. I asked to refund the money. Btw, I added 20% tip to my total..... but will never go there again.
The WORST Philz I’ve ever visited. They asked us for gratuity before being served, and the service was poor. The barista made me and my pregnant wife wait several minutes to order - just to refill printer paper on a secondary register. The store was empty.
Secondly, they made us the wrong drinks. Two drinks should not be difficult. No apology, no competence, no return visit from us.

Took forever to take my customized order and only thing I got was cold brew plain coffee with milk (I requested cardamom and caramel in). I don’t know what happened. I always ordered same thing at other locations and they never messed up my order.
