Sushi Nishi Ya is a true gem, with no frills and sushi that speaks for itself. Guests never have to wait for a table, and the service is direct and courteous. The restaurant provides incredible ginger that is refilled throughout the meal, as well as freshly grated, sweet, and fluffy wasabi. Favorites include the sweet shrimp, the uni served with Hokkaido and Santa Barbara side by side, the halibut, and the red snapper, but the entire menu is very, very good. The restaurant reminds guests that there are no special rolls or California rolls, which is exactly what they want.
