I was blown away, this was the perfect date night. The Japanese Omakase option was stellar, and the service was kind and attentive. New fave spot

We decided on the regular omakase which had more pieces than expected. They were excellent and fresh, the omakase was wonderful. The chef was cool. We also ordered a Japanese mochi soup that had a couple of clams in it, and it was good. For dessert we opted for the Amaou (Japanese strawberry). It was okay, not that sweet and at 8.00 for two small strawberries, I say definitely pass on it. This dining experience would have garnered 5 stars if not for the very friendly but scattered customer service. Two things stood out. When the bill came, the omakases were left off it, just sides and drinks. I pointed it out and the staff seemed confused at first. After we paid the revised bill and left, later that night I saw that a fresh water eel sushi which we didn't order had been added on our bill. I love eel and would know if we had it, and it was pricy. Was the charge an honest mistake? Wasn't worth the long drive back to contest. Again, the food was great.

If I could afford to eat here several times a week, I would be here. The fish is always fresh. Service is friendly and attentive. The specials are innovative and inspire me to try new dishes. The seared scallop special was divine. The yuzu cheesecake light, airy and delicious. The Uni sends me to the moon. The blue crab handroll is assembled tableside. Dining here feels special.

Go to the one in Santa Monica. If you already found this place and think this place is good, go to their Santa Monica location so they can actually blow your mind.

This was a Japanese restaurant my husband and I discovered by surprise — and it was such a wonderful find. It’s very quiet; we sat down around 5 PM. They have some special items on their menu, and every dish is beautifully crafted. The sashimi is a must-order. For dessert, we tried the “Magic Grape” — it felt whimsical and unexpected!

The overall atmosphere is perfect for a date or a celebration. The restaurant is located inside an office building, so you might have to look a bit carefully because the signage outside isn’t very obvious.

Highly recommended — this is definitely a place I would return to. I really love all the thoughtful details in their service, even their tableware has a sense of aesthetics and design.

Service was great.
My Japanese wife absolutely loves the fresh food. Me as a vegan had edema over rice. But this was for her 90th birthday. I would have been ok with rice only.

This place was amazing. Our chef and waiter were both very attentive and super nice. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming and the food was really good. We did the omakase. Their desserts are amazing too!! Worth every penny.

Dining at Sasabune Glendale was nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first bite, the omakase meal felt like a story unfolding — a journey across the sea, where each course revealed another chapter of flavors, textures, and artistry. Every piece of fish was pristine, each preparation balanced and intentional, and the flow of the meal built a sense of anticipation and wonder.

What makes the experience even more special is its surprising location. Tucked inside a mall, right next to a California Pizza Kitchen, you’d never guess such a world-class omakase experience could be hidden here. But once you sit down and the first dish arrives, you know you’ve discovered something truly unique.

Sasabune Glendale is not just a restaurant — it’s an unforgettable adventure for anyone who loves sushi at its highest level.

A classic in its prime. Looking for Edo-mae style sushi in its classic form? Look no further. Not inexpensive, but given the curiously supersized inflation on Japanese omakase in Los Angeles, now a relative bargain.

Marvelous food and service! Had the Japanese Omakaze. I've had Omakaze many times before. Everything was terrific, but the one thing that blew my mind was the blue crab handroll at the end. The most amazing feature of the handroll? The nori! (Seaweed wrap). I've always wondered why some nori at the Japanese grocery near me are more expensive than others (like, crazy expensive!). Now I know! So crunchy, and subtly delicious! Try the blue crab handroll!!

Top notch traditional edomae omakase, fantastic quality fish flown in from all over the world, rice was perfect, chef was a master of his craft. Wow.

(They also have non-omakase options and a happy hour, but the move here is the omakase trust me)
