Cold, rude and unattentive hosts. Apparently reservations are made over RESY (as says on their phone recording) but once we arrived we found out that people “request certain tables”. Those said certain tables remain largely unfilled on this busy Mothers Day. Meanwhile we were being shuffled to a table in the blaring sun with a two year old. Common sense just didn’t prevail here. Menu tries to be elevated and unique but just falls short with delivering on the promise. Something is just off here and I hope they can figure it out because they’ve done a great job in the renovation. It’s a beautiful restaurant and I am rooting for them. I’ll be back to give them another shot.
Wow!!! We are so glad our favorite spot has reopened. It is more pretentious and expensive than we wanted, BUT they have done a beautiful job of restoring this fabulous location and restaurant.
Hidden at Goleta Beach It is a well-kept secret and gives a real flavor of Goleta, the Good Land.
I have no opinion of the food here, because after being halfheartedly told to seat ourselves on the patio no one came to the table for 20 minutes, despite there being multiple servers and only 5 other seated tables. We ended up walking out. Bummer.
Beautiful ocean views! The food and service were excellent. It was busy but ran so smoothly it was hard to notice.
I had a wonderful dinner here with my parents yesterday. Can’t beat the ocean view at sunset and the cocktails were excellent. I had a High Fashion - a take on an old fashioned that made it super smooth and well balanced. The fusilli pasta share plate was perhaps my favorite dish, but the hamachi crudo was wonderfully crisp, light, and refreshing. The portions are very shareable and I’d recommend splitting dishes. Between the 3 adults we could have done with one appetizer, one shared plate, and one entree and had plenty of food.
The service was excellent as well, down to earth and friendly while sharing a deep appreciation and knowledge of the dishes on the menu. Well worth a repeat visit.
The clam chowder is the absolute best I've ever eaten. Service was perfect. Great waiter. I will recommend Ellwood to all my family & friends.
$77.00 for 3 beers and 2 appetizers - during Happy Hour. Stopped by here yesterday. Way too expensive. This place was much better as Beachside Cafe when it had local character and prices that didn't cost a 2nd on your home. The server even picked up our menus without asking if we wanted to order any food. Guess I should have taken the hint.
Had a horrible brunch on Father’s Day
Knowing the manager asked someone sitting at a table by themselves to move because another customer wanted it is in such poor taste. I will never diner here. You need to work on your customer service skills.
