Super dry... very expensive for the quality.

I travel a lot and eat sushi everywhere... I paid $150 for two people, and I disliked every dish we had.
4/10 rating.

Eat with caution.

The table next to us came in after us and had just been seated when the waitress brought their table water and tried to take their orders. They were not ready however were ready because we had been their quite awhile but the waitress walked away without acknowledging us walking back and forth in and out of the kitchen. We finally gave up and left.

Service was extremely attentive and very friendly. I only tried 2 rolls which were both quite good. The cucumber salad was also very tasty. Pretty reasonably priced for sushi and I would go back when in the area.

From start to finish, from the impeccable staff to the sublime food, everything was perfect. The Japanese concepts of relentless pursuit of excellence and meticulous effort are clearly in practice here, and last night they achieved perfection. This is no ordinary Japanese restaurant. Five stars.

As much as I enjoy going to Kaido and have been there numerous times, the service was superb, but the food, something else. I ordered the rainbow roll, as I normally have, but as the photo depicts, the avocado was old and browning, and additionally, the rice was old and stale, causing the rice’s texture to lose stickiness and made the roll fall apart while in my chopsticks. I have no issue paying $20 for a high-quality sushi roll, but for $20, I expect to receive avocado that isn’t going bad and fresh rice. With this experience, I could’ve gotten a roll half the price from a grocery store that would’ve been fresher. I’m honestly surprised, because I have had great experiences at Kaido in the past, but I was extremely disappointed.

So good! I came in alone and I was impressed by the fast service. I had the chirashi bowl and a roll and left feeling satisfied.

Only been there once, last winter. My 12 year old son and I just happened to be able to walk in one night without a reservation. Not a very common occurrence. I love the old school, gold rush historic look of the place. There was a black and white Japanese film from the 1950's playing on a screen within our view. No sound, but the theatrical, stylized look of it really added something special to the atmosphere there. We happened to know our server which is one of the great things about living in a small town. Everything at Kaido seems harmoniously balanced to please the senses: the impeccable timing and friendly demeanor of our server, the chiaroscuro lighting, the subdued sounds and smells. The food was excellent, fully the equal of sushi places we have been to in San Francisco and Oakland. The saki was the perfect warming on a cold night.

Superb service attentive, personal, and accomodating. Freshest seafood anywhere. Ordering specialty rolls at extra cost is well worth it. Atmosphere is a full house fitted nicely into a small space and still intimate. SO TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY.. My favorite..

The most fresh sushi I’ve ever had, definitely the best in Nevada county. A bit pricey and the servings are smaller but that’s to be expected with how quality the food is. Great customer service, waitresses are very nice

I will never come back to this place. I have been here twice and the food is okay but this is the second time it took 50 minutes to receive our order and we only ordered three rolls. Also the restaurant was half empty. I have had other friends with the same experience. This is the slowest place I've ever been to. Restaurant experience is not just about the food it's about the service and the atmosphere that makes a complete package . The worst part is I asked for ponzu sauce for my wife and I which I do it every restaurant. They charged me $7 for ponzu sauce! I've been to at least 100 sushi restaurants and I've never been charged. The waitress could have at least told us that there was a charge and I would have just had soy sauce for free. Food is getting more and more expensive and they're going to nail me with a dollar charge for literally a teaspoon of sauce. Terrible
