I was up visiting my sister & I told her to find us a Mexican restaurant to go eat at. Because Mexican food is my favorite. So we went there & it was packed & we were told 45 min wait so we looked at each other & said wow this place must be good. So we went to put our name on the list & the hostess told my sister if there's room in the bar we could eat in there so we walked in and there were 2 spots at the end of the bar. So we sat down & ate awesome food and had incredible service and then my sister told me that her Margarita was the best she ever had. What a great place I will definitely go back.

Happy hour did not disappoint. The fish & carnita tacos were very tasty, and of course, their margaritas were refreshing.

Maria's serves fairly typical American Mexican food. My mom lives this place. We all love the chips. The service is fast and friendly. There is on-site parking, a big deal in downtown Grass Valley.

Dietary restrictions: My mom is Celiac. They have nice options for her.

What a dump. The food was nasty. The meat dry and beans hard. Rice was stuck together like made the day before. The chips were store bought? Not even fresh. Not even the beans were good. I boxed the dinner. I don't know why. I threw it out the next day. That bad. And OVERPRICED. the child next table threw his food on the floor. I could not find a staff member to clean it up before someone fell. I felt like I was at McDonald's. Same service.
I won't be back. Even the family next table was complaining ?
Save your money. They were cheap qty food back then, now??? Not sure if food cost got so much they have to buy cow.

We enjoy a meal at Maria's every time we are in GV. Great margs, the food is delicious and service has always been wonderful. Parking is easy and location is walking distance from downtown. Great ambience and we love to sit out on the patio. Great for large groups and very kid friendly!!

Saturday we decided to drive to Nevada City to check out the Prospectors Nursery only to discover they were closed ? l'd like to apply to be a Vendor at their events!
Hungry is as Hungry does, we drove to and through Grass Valley twice before deciding to try Maria's Mexican Restaurant!
I love the Spanish Architecture inside and out. Always wanted a Pueblo "looking" home!
We were seated in the large outside patio by a very attentive (and familiar) hostess! We ordered breakfast. Holy Moly. A whopper of loaded goodness!
I was able to FLAG the hostess asking if she lived or worked in and around Old Town Auburn years ago saying l recognized her as one of my customers.
Come to find out, she patronized my Shop and we chatted several times. I was amazed when she said she was a licensed Concrete/Cement Contractor, Owner! .
She's physically fit and "cuts firewood" now for a living and hosting on the side.
Since l was so fascinated with that whole property, she took us on a tour. Incredible theme and full dining experience there.
She did remember me when l gave her my card.
Thanks Lorraine for a nice welcome and, remembering.
We'll dine there now atleast once a month!
We recommend this Restaurant !

We had a party of six. We were greated with a smile and a friendly host. We were seated immediately. Some of us had cocktails which Watermelon Margarita with Tajin was YUM! Salsa and fresh warm chips prior to our very delicious dinner. Good atmosphere, great food, delicious drinks! Highly recommend.

Jamie was our server and was fantastic! We already like eating here and are at Maria’s about every other week — and have always enjoyed great service — but Jamie really shined on this last visit. She was single-handedly tending to our side of the restaurant and made serving her multiple tables look effortless. Not only that, she was doing it with genuine friendliness and catching the “little details” of our needs — like when we mentioned feeling guilty that we weren’t able to get to the second order of chips and salsa she’d kindly brought us, in she swooped with a bag and little container to take them with us along with our other leftovers. Jamie also didn’t make us feel hurried or like we were just “Table #4” to her. Really nice, and we’ll be back (of course)!

Way overpriced. Restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night and it didn't use to be like that. You can't charge $32 for basic over salted, over oily steak fajitas. At this rate it Will be nice to see what Restaurant comes in to replace it in 5 years.
