This is always my go to sushi spot! The food is always amazing! Though I occasionally try other options on their menu, my favorites are the Diablo Canyon Roll, Crispy Spicy Tuna, Hot Aki, Sashimi Salad, and the Cherry Blossom Roll. Even their side salads, while simple, have touches of fresh, local fruit, and the best miso dressing that i have ever had. Really, everything I've had over the years shows their dedication to providing the freshest and best tasting food around. I truly wish that I could eat there every day!

Very expensive. The server got both of our orders wrong. I am gluten intolerant which I told her when we ordered. I was served food that was not what I ordered and was not gluten free. The part of my order that was correct was of mediocre quality. The sushi fell apart and the rest of my order did not taste fresh. We asked for additional wasabi but had to ask repeatedly. I asked for an additional napkin and finally gave up and got one myself.

We weren't impressed. Definitely overpriced for the mediocre quality. The sushi rolls and nigiri had old, stale rice. The roll was so poorly it didn't even hold together.
On top of that, the waiter didn't bring any ginger or wasabi, and was pretty annoyed when we asked for it.
The beef bulgogi had little beef and a lot of vegetables - not at all like what traditional beef bulgogi is supposed to be.
Overpriced, and mediocre quality at best. The restaurant itself was maybe 62f degrees inside at best. Not exactly a pleasant dining experience.

Absolutely loved my experience at Umi Sushi in Grover Beach! The food was outstanding—each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We tried a variety of rolls, and every single one was a delight.
A special shoutout to our waitstaff, Helen, who was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations that enhanced our meal. Her friendly demeanor added to the overall wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant.
If you’re in the area and craving sushi, Umi Sushi is a must-visit! Can’t wait to return!

As we are from the Seattle Tacoma area have many sushi places. Umi was recommended by a bartender in Pismo and he was spot on. Only been for lunch but the quality is great and as mentioned by others fresh!
Food was was very impressive, it tasted as good as it looked. Service was fast and the staff was very polite. They also offer a Veteran discount which was a nice surprise.

We came here for lunch, and the prices seemed a little expensive for the sushi rolls, but we still gave this place a shot, and I'm glad we did. The fish was great quality and it was absolutely delicious. I had the Crunch and Munch Roll, and it was the best sushi roll I think I've ever had. My friend had the grilled fish collar, and it was so tender and delicious. The miso soup, to my surprise, did not have any tofu in it - which i thought was strange... but the soup itself was very flavorful and well seasoned, so we were still happy with it. We will definitely be back for more delicious food.
