This place has great food but SOME of the staff is lacking in basic respect and they end up making everyone’s lives (staff and customer) more difficult because of it.If the staff just asked if we meant to order extra sauce instead of swearing in front of us and forcing us to pay 7 bucks then I think everyone would have had a better experience.Better yet, include that sauce in the order if you’re going to charge the customer for it! I the tip I gave was appreciated because I will not be tipping here for takeout like a fool again.

Came here tonight for the first time. The food was amazing. The chef, Steve that prepares your food is very friendly and inviting. Everything was so fresh tasting. I will be returning very soon, this is my new favorite spot. 'See you tomorrow!'

My grandson and I went here on Valentine's day! We had the deep fried Sushi fish rolls. Chicken teriyaki with rice and tempura veggies. All good! This place is so busy all the time that my grandson and I remarked it would be great if they could get into a bigger place! I also had some red wine that was very goodVegetarian options: They have a really good Japanese vinegar cucumber salad that my grandson likes. He's always liked it from age 8 and now he is 14. They also have seaweed soup that is good and a lot of tempura veggies and California rolls with veggies and avocado.

Super cool sushi bar on the Central Coast. Get in early or wait, but worth it. Steve (owner) behind sushi bar. Great night of dining on great fish!

Good service. Fish seemed fresh, but seemed very overpriced considering the environment. We paid $50 for 10 pieces of salmon sashimi . Tightly squeezed, old tables...just felt a little run down inside to be charging top dollar. Everything was just mediocre as a whole if I'm being honest. Spent $120 and left underwhelmed.

Had spicy tuns, smoked Philly, and SLO roll. Steve is a wiz behind that sushi counter. He makes some of the best sushi I've had, I definitely recommend.

Please do not waste your money on this place! My takeout order was missing an item, the gyoza was also freezing cold, and our sushi rolls did not have the avocado as they were supposed to! The staff is also VERY mean! They said that I shouldn't "expect perfection when I order their take out." Everyone should order from either Sushi 805 or Yanagi Sushi instead!

I can't believe I'm writing this after being a LOYAL patron for over 10 years. I even have a personal hand roll and have been buds with Steve forever. However, the service (outside of directly sitting in front of Steve) has finally gotten to a point where I won't be returning. Unless you sit in front of Steve, you are screwed.. especially if the dick with the beard is your waiter.. his bad attitude, lack of respect for any customers, and just general unwelcoming demeanor was just the final straw. After sitting for 15 minutes without being recognized in the restaurant (aside from Steve welcoming us) I had to flag the waiter down for a water.. he was obviously annoyed by me getting his attention.. then another 15+ to get an order in.. then after a half hour without anything coming out, I decided to ask Steve about it. (Since the waiter wasn't in any capacity engaged) guess what.. the guy never even turned in my order.. I sat there for over an hour. I've been to Yamato packed to the gills and pre-covid he never had a staff that wasn't honestly "a vibe".. it's really always been part of the charm. But the last few visits (outside of sitting in front of Steve) have been embarrassing. I'm sad to say this but after literally spending years eating there.. having it as my go to for any company dinners, or date nights.. I'm done. Steve I am sorry, but you need to get some wait staff that cares about the place or you are going to lose more customers.. and the extra star is for Steve. Won't be back.

Got a togo order of the beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, and chirashi, and 2 rolls. The food was really good, but they use too much rice compared to the fish. The chirashi bowl was not worth it. The cut pieces of fish was very tiny and the togo container was 2/3 filled with ride. This place is the better sushi joint in the area.

Some places just aren’t meant for takeout. We arrived right at the listed pickup time (exactly an hour after the order was placed) and the food was ready, although we were waiting for them to add two sides. The bags barely felt warm at all when we picked them up, and when we got home with the food 10 minutes later, it was completely room temperature. They must have made the order early and never notified us. Also, and most importantly, there was no soy sauce in the bags for our sushi orders. So we had to eat everything dry without soy sauce. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect there to be soy sauce in a takeout sushi order, which is why we didn’t ask to confirm when we picked up. The food was still good, and this seemed like a really good place to dine in, but I would not recommend ordering takeout.
