Super cool Roadside eatery, with A Bar, that you just don't find no more. Celebrating 100 years. Chain restaurants are the norm these days... and PSA carries on almost as an anachronism, and thankfully so. Pea Soup, absolutely. And all else seemed approachable too. Barmaid (J-----)was an angel.

Walked in and there was no one around except a couple diners. Waited and waited but no one came but could hear people in back laughing and talking Spanish. Finally saw someone walk by in the back and I shrugged "whats up". She got someone to come to front.I could have walked out with all kinds of merchandise as no one there!Their pea soup is always great, so we will be back but having no one watching the front..is a no-no. We were there Sunday 4-28-24 @ 11am

It is no wonder this is the last location. The whole place looks old and run down. The food is sub par and way to over priced!

Very slow service. Food was ok. Had the chicken fried steak. Was good. Also added on the salad and drink special. Only because I could get a milk shake.

We've driven by this multiple times but never stopped by until now. It's German fare with a side of nostalgia. The veggie omelet was a delight, bursting with flavor, while the Greek salad was generously portioned and refreshingly crisp. My son had no complaint for the kids meal. Service was attentive, giving us a pleasant dining experience. The decor, adorned with memorabilia, veers towards the dated side and a bit run down, which might not appeal to everyone. The bathrooms were clean and the store inside looked like some of the stuff has been sitting there for years. Overall, a satisfying culinary journey, just needs some updating to the restaurant.

A blissful, quaint, charming restaurant that lacks real great, memorable food (aside from the titular split pea soup), but makes up for it in the fact that it acts as a time capsule for the iconic I-5 and its passersby. Rest in peace to the one in Buellton that truly felt like the one that should've stuck around due to its proximity to Solvang. Pea Soup Andersen's is, for most people, the restaurant that exists in Santa Nella that you see advertisements for and pass up for In N Out. I can't blame you. That used to me until I had to drive up and down the I-5 about 6 times so far in 2024. So many miles and so many billboards will eventually crumble a man into giving in and saying, "Okay, this kitschy windmill attraction will be stopped by." To put it short, you go here for the split pea soup that should be enough for you. Should you venture off into their menu and pick something else, it really is a hit or miss. They're not the best with a lot of their menu, often leaving things a bit underwhelming (and honestly sometimes confusing, like when I got Mexican salsa included with some very Scandinavian eats). But I think the environment, decent service, and kitsch of the place really does help make up for that. Even with that mind, note I don't think I've left this place not full, especially with a traveler's add-on (soup, bread, and a milkshake) adorned on with each of my visits. Could the food (aside from the pea soup) be better? Yes. Is that why you come here? For the astonishingly crazy good food that makes you go, "Now, Michelin needs to add Arvin to their repertoire"? No. That is the wrong reason to go here. You go here because it's cheesy, iconic, and convenient, and reads as a way-too-dated-to-be-around, yet somehow marvelously stands always as a symbol of the I-5.
