Went here with high expectations, but was very disappointed. It is completely different from the Ji Guang Xiang Xiang Chicken that we eat in Taiwan... First of all, the fried chicken has no juice and is dry. It is not crispy, the meat is not tender, and has no flavor. The taste is completely different from the Ji Guang Xiang Xiang Chicken that we eat in Taiwan. Same! ! People who have never eaten at Jiguang in Taiwan may really think that Taiwanese fried chicken is so unpalatable. I sincerely recommend that the store carefully controls the seasoning and production. Then when it opened, I saw other bloggers sharing that they had sweet potato balls, but they didn’t have them today, and the dishes were not rich. I also ordered the pomelo-flavored burger. The pomelo-flavored fried chicken burger was really ordinary.
Two stars for clean environment and good service attitude...the food is really disappointing.

This place is confusing. Here’s why.

The atmosphere, or at least the setting, with the open kitchen and cleanliness, isn’t bad. But honestly, that’s about all this place has going for it.

I ordered three combos: the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich Combo, the Chicken Leg and Thigh Combo, and the Large J&G Popcorn Chicken Combo. I also ordered the chicken knee. All of that came to around $55, which is quite pricey. Strangely, none of these combos come with drinks, which is really odd for a fast-food spot.

When I went to pick up my order, the food was just sitting there on the counter with no one around. The staff seemed too busy to notice, let alone care. I had to check the number and grab it myself.

After about 10 minutes of eating, something felt off. First, none of the combos included drinks—I’m still not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be. Second, the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich was missing. We double-checked the order several times, and it just wasn’t there.

So, I went to ask the server. After a few minutes of trying to explain the situation, the older lady seemed annoyed, almost angry. She grabbed a chicken sandwich from the back and tossed it at me. Not exactly the kind of service you expect.

Honestly, it’s a good thing they use kiosks for ordering, because if I had known how bad the service was, I probably would’ve left sooner.

As for the food, the taste wasn’t great. The curly fries, popcorn chicken, and chicken knee were all soggy. I mean, the food came straight out of the kitchen—how did it get soggy so fast? There was no crispiness to any of it, and most of the fried items had a strange sweetness to them, which was unexpected. Maybe that’s the flavor they’re aiming for, but sweet fried chicken? Okay...

The salad was decent. It tasted fresh, but there’s not much more to say about it. Surprisingly, the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich—when we finally got it—wasn’t bad. The flavor was good, but the chicken was just too soggy, like this place doesn’t know how to fry food properly.

Spending over $55 for three combos without drinks is steep. We even had to ask for a cup of water, and they only gave us one small cup for three people, reluctantly. It felt like they didn’t want to be bothered.

I’d never heard of this restaurant before. It seems like there are a lot of fast-food chains popping up in the U.S. from China, but I’ll be staying away from them. It feels like they come here without doing any research or marketing and expect to make a quick buck with subpar food and service. There’s a reason that, in the land of fast food, places like McDonald’s and Taco Bell still reign supreme—even though we know their food isn’t the best. At least they try. Unlike these new pop-up restaurants, which treat us like cash cows to be milked.

I will avoid this place and its brand until they make significant improvement.

Parking: the restaurant is located in a big parking area.

Paid for large size on the tablet, staff gave us medium size. Even when we told them, they act like they don't know.

The food was undercooked. I went to eat with my best friend. We felt very uncomfortable after eating the entire meal. I had vomiting and diarrhea. I won’t come here again. I don’t recommend it to everyone.

The Hot Chicken is different from your Dave's, Popeye's, etc. It's an Asian hot spice. It's different. It's worth it to try once. You may love it. I did!!!
Plus extra clean inside.

We have heard of this new Taiwanese restaurant for a while. We ordered the crispy chicken cutlet, popcorn chicken and of course the yam balls. Chain store drinks are sometimes questionable but the gentleman recommended their fruit teas, so we ordered one.
The restaurant was clean and airy, the customer service was quite nice. We both liked their crispy chicken cutlet, it's very crunchy, the only downside is the size. The popcorn chicken was meh... There's not much flavor and the crunch was missing. We've tried better popcorn chickens in Taiwan so, our standard is a bit higher?
The yam balls were chewy and delicious. But the portion was really small (for the price). Overall, we will be back for the chicken cutlets as they're quite good and for other items on the menu we haven't tried.

Don't get the pop chicken. They taste like reheated frozen chicken from Trader Joe's.

Who on earth thinks this restaurant is delicious? Not as good as Popeyes. The outer skin is not crispy and is so hard that it pricks your mouth. The chicken was dry and woody, and the portion was small. There were only a few drops of sauce in the burger, and the entire bun was dry. There are also French fries. This is the first time I have eaten such terrible French fries in a restaurant with such high Chinese ingredients. They are seasoned as if there is no salt. A box is either very soft or very hard, and none of them can taste the way French fries should. You guys are really capable. What are the ingredients in this store? They are all sailors from Taiwan, they are so disgusting.

Kids love the popcorn chicken and the curly fries here. However, the portion was a bit small and we had to order more. Price is slightly more expensive than other fast food chains. The place is fairly empty on a Sunday noon. Staff was generally attentive but would be great to have a bit of smiles and friendliness.

We ordered popcorn chicken combo with curly fries, original chicken sandwich, spicy chicken filet. The taste of the food is great overall. The reason we rated this as a 3 is due to the portion size. The portion size overall is too small for the price they charge.

Original fried chicken is really good. However, they put inside the the wrapper paper that’s not suitable for the chicken. The paper makes the chicken soggy and the batter just falls out. Disappointed.

My wife is from Kaohsiung Taiwan, and I lived in Taiwan for 3 years with her, we never eat this JG fried chicken but we have tried others. I know this is famous from northern Taiwan, but we don’t see any in around Kaohsiung, and when I tried here, I cant believe this the “每个台湾人记忆中的炸鸡”,the fried chicken is so dry and not tender at all, not seems like the taste that I’ve been eating in Taiwan like “天使鸡排”,“阿亮香鸡排” juicy and tender, and the skin is not very crispy too, maybe this is the taste or northern Taiwan I don’t know, but I feel like this is not my cup of fried chicken, but people in the States should be loving it cos it’s dry XD
For the service, I give no comment cos there is no service at all, just self service. So it’s easy for I people like me. The environment is good, I like it.

Really cute and clean place with great food. The only thing I would complain about is the portions of the food. One order of the mushroom is around 7$ but the portion is small. Would definitely still come back but wish the portions were bigger!
