Makiyaki Izakaya

I am a frequent visitor of the Uptown Whittier location and absolutely love it. I recently moved down to a new neighborhood and coincidentally found their sister location very nearby. The menus are very different, but the quality is still the same top tier that you'd expect. I was impressed with the price and quality of their pork belly skewers. Only $4 for high-quality pork belly skewers is insane! I loved everything I ordered and the service was great. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Once again, this place did not dissapoint. The food here is really good. The kids love the teriyaki chicken bowl, and the California rolls. I like the teriyaki bento box, and an order of rainbow sushi. Can't go wrong with this place. It's very clean, and the people and service is great!

We tried buy 1 get second 1/2 off Sushi rolls. Price was decent. However too much sweetened sauce that dominated the sushi flavor. I'm not here to drink sweet sauce. I got to scrape away the extra sauce to eat my sushi.
Service B-, not many customers. I put my 3/4 empty glass on the side of the table. We need to call her to refill water .. customer service, room for improvement.
Also, one piece of see thru napkin is not enough for a meal. We need to call again for extra napkins...

These people messes up on my tab they charged me 5x the amount I should’ve paid. The waiter looks like he was on drugs.

Great Japanese style restaurant with good portions and friendly services. We were there a bit early to beat the crowds. The Tonkatsu ramen was excellent and the bento with tempura was just right. Definitely we will go back to try other menu items.

They used good food, ingredients. My stomach is so sensitive to have law foods, but it was so good and tasty. Even their sake was good grades one. Clean, kind, good service.I really enjoyed.

Great places definitely recommend.. technically it's a Sake house, hence the name. Ingredients seem to be of higher quality than other sushi places around the area. If you get the Japanese A5 wagyu I suggest you order it rare or medium rare as they cook it well. Great selection of sake, small selection of beer. Both beer and cold sake are kept on ice which is a plus, never really seem that at a sushi restaurant. The staff was cool friendly and helpful, especially with my million sake questions. The restaurants and restrooms were clean and well kept and maintained. Not in a bad location for those who live in the area. Will definitely be coming back.

Good value. The katsu and tempura were good and made in the more traditional style. The sushi was made with good technique, not overly packed rice like cheap supermarket sushi or made by machine.
