Clams I bought were 50% dead. they were hand-pulled from a bag by the attendant, so it's not like they should have been missed. I tossed the whole order.
1/5 Stars
My experience at Half Moon Bay Fish Market was extremely disappointing. The store was in poor condition, with water pooling on the floor from leaking coolers, creating a slippery and unclean environment. The crab tanks were filthy, with murky water that reeked of fish waste, raising concerns about the seafood’s freshness.
The staff spoke only Spanish, which made communication very difficult and frustrating. The fish prices were outrageous—$25 per pound—which felt unjustifiable given the substandard conditions. When I bought fish, it was carelessly thrown into a plastic bag already covered in scales and salmon residue from the employee’s hands. When I requested ice, I was handed a separate bag of ice to add myself, adding to the hassle and mess.
Overall, the lack of cleanliness, exorbitant prices, and poor service make The Fish Market a place I won’t revisit. I hope they address these issues for future customers.
For an unfussy fish market the prices aren’t reasonable here. Many items are on the high side. I feel I get better value elsewhere.
This place doesn't look good.
Friendly service, came here cause “pelagic” wanted 20 bucks a lb for fish…
Snapper was 10 bucks but it was overly stinky and the ceviche tasted horrible.
Either it wasnt snapper or it wasnt fresh.
Super dissapointed
this market is fine, very fresh fish (only to cook and to go), and not the best prices, yet worth to stop by.
Been here a few times for oysters and fish, good quality seafood, average prices(a tad higher then others) but worth it, i try to come by once a month, haven't gotten sick from here, I'll be back for more
Fantastic lunch!
Great fish market!
Great selection, friendly service, a little bit off of our route but worth the stop. They have great smoked salmon and sell bread to complete your meal.

Nice and cool.
Very fresh, and large portions of seafood. Dungeness crab and shrimp salad.
Best lunch I have had in a long time. The prawns were huge! And cooked perfectly. The calamari was the best I've ever had, and I make it at home, theirs are better. The fish was also cooked perfectly. The crab sandwich was something I had never seen before and was amazing. I can't wait to get back there.
I have been here twice. The first time, the fish was fresh enough and good to eat. The second time, I decided to buy more fish. This time, the wild salmon fish was rotten. I found it out. I don't trust them anymore and I'll buy my fish from somewhere else.
Showed up at 7 and they were closed. Why have hours if you're not open? I wouldn't even consider trying this place again.
