Ordered the shrimp scampi with linguine and it was horrible. I didn't even eat it all. Tasted like everything was boiled and my plate was flooded with water and seemed like garlic salt or garlic spice was sprinkled all over everything. This was $27? We stay at the hotel next door about once every six weeks and eat either at Sam's or mezaluna From now on it'll be mezaluna. So disappointed in Sam's.

My favorite go to place to take my family and friends when I come back to the Mainland. Love seeing one of my favorite harbors I used to fish out of. The fish and seafood is so fresh. Everything we had was delicious. The staff were most accommodating, friendly, and attentive. Their live music for the evening was also impressive

Been coming to Sam's for two decades, always nice, and it's gotten much more crowded than in the old days. Fast efficient service with pleasant people. Is always a bit noisy at times, often from patrons and the bustle of the kitchen which is close to some of the seating areas. Food could be better, I remember the generous Lobster rolls have better flavor, this time felt a bit dry and needed more sauce or something, I remember them being more creamy and buttery. The chips are decent but a more bbq flavor or something seasoning would compliment the lobster better. The clam chowder I had was not really very hot, and I could take a full spoonful as soon as it was delivered and also much more bland than I remember. The mouse desert and olive oil and salted ice cream was awesome. Also tried the gumbo which was a bit too watery and also very bland. Plan on coming back but sad that the food was a bit lacking this time around. Would be nice to reserve an outside table in advance as that is my preferred table irregardless of the time of year.

We have been in the restaurant for many times and we are still amazed by the foods they prepare. Tasty foods with great ocean view at the front line. Got to visit the restaurant again.

Sam's has been my “go to” place for years. I always look forward to going there and I have always left completely satisfied. The food and service are great and the view is phenomenal! And all the patrons always seem to be having a good time.

Ordered take out and tried a variety of dishes. Everything was ok, except the price of the gnocchi was outrageous! barely a cup full and was charged almost $18. Complete rip off and soured the whole experience.

Fantastic chowder! I had the New England and it had just the perfect of clam to potato ratio. The base was so flavorful! We went on a Sunday around 1:30 and there was only a 25 minute wait.

Food has declined. I had the lobster roll. It was always my favorite, but it wasn't as good as it used to be.

The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor seats with nice view of the blue sea. The chowder is okay kind of runny, the all you can eat sourdough with butter is good. You can go downstairs to the beach.

We had a group of 6 people and had Paco as our waiter who was an absolutely wonderful guy. He told us what we should order (clams and lobster spaghetti were a huge hit along with many others) and the Mai Tais were very popular too. Ask for Paco!

We were a party of four. We were seated fast. It was over 20 minutes before our waitress came to our table.
She took our orders. Salmon, 2 chowder soups, polenta sticks, Fila of soul, and finally, a hamburger, medium rare, and fries. No cheese or mayo.
The orders arrived 20 minutes later,a reasonable amount of time for cooking.
3 at our table were delighted with their meals.
Fresh, hot, and just what they expected.
Unfortunately, the hamburger came medium well on an oily bun with meat that had little beef flavor. The fries were a very large portion. Seasonings overwhelmed them. Paprika? Curry? I'm not sure.
We've eaten here 3 times before. This was my first burger instead of fish.
I'll be back, but I'll stick to the fish next time.

Unfortunately the food is hit or miss. Our lobster roll was chewy and had shells. We didn't eat more than two bites and they didn't offer to comp. I've had this issue before with Sam's - if you call them out on their food being less than fresh or palatable they don't really care. They don't count on repeat customers so what you get is what you get and sometimes it's good. Sometimes it's not. The view and staff are always nice and that's what keeps me coming back. But sometimes it's a little expensive for the rubbery seafood.

Also please stop selling gumbo. It's terrible and not even close to the real thing.

Driving into half moon bay we found the sign and thought hmmm let’s try that! I am glad we did the New England calm chowder (large) bowl was delicious lots of clams…
The New Orleans style gumbo could have used some more sausage and little more spice but it was served hot and lots of veggies!
The Marin miyagi oysters were very good!
We had an off the menu appetizer that included seared ahi tuna on a bed of rice and pineapple. The Tennessee blackberry ice tea (which was made with Jack Daniels) was refreshing. For dessert we had an off menu punkin cannoli!! Yummy
Our server Jesus was very nice, personable and gracious! Overall it was a nice dinner and a great experience
