The food is mediocre. I don't know what's wrong with the water offered, they tasted like table wiping cloth and totally undrinkable. I doubt the place is even adequately hygienic. I also hate the way they cook katsu. It shouldn't go with BBQ sauce, that's abomination. It should be served with curry. If the dish cannot be prepared with curry, don't offer it.

Great sushi and nice setting. The atmosphere is 4 because I often get a poorly cleaned table and service gets a 3 because the servers have made some rude remarks to me over the years. But great food.

In the area and craving sushi. Overall good experience. The restaurant was busy and customers were happy. We ordered the Lion King sushi, the unagi roll (bbq eel rolled like a cone), udon noodles with chicken. The food had some amazing flavors. The noodles were tender and delicious. I asked for some hot seasoning and was given a small bottle with some kind of seasoning salt which was nice and spicy, the Lion king sushi pieces were larger than expected, and the unagi cone was good but different. The restaurant had some cool vibes.

I know I'm not sharing rocket science here, but just because two restaurants sit next to each other in a shopping center doesn't mean they offer the same quality. Yes, it's hard to believe I don't get paid for that depth of wisdom. I had a very good meal at Monsoon (review: but my takeout order at the Japanese restaurant next door was honestly marginal. Having walked a good chunk of the coastal trail, I was pretty hungry when I placed my order. I went for the $22.50 Curry Katsu Donburi which for no apparent reason, was shaped like a heart. The pork was on the tough side, and the curry was rather watery (photo: It didn't come across as much of a valentine to me. However, I was pleased with the House Salad (photo: To their credit, it was an abundant serving and lightly dressed. It was frankly the only part of my meal that wasn't disappointing. I couldn't say the same with the woefully overpriced $10.25 Chicken Yakitori (photo: It consisted of two skewers, and the poultry tasted dried out like it was under the warmer too long. Maybe an in-house dining experience would've made a difference. FOOD - 3 stars...I give them points for the salad, but the rest of the food was meh AMBIANCE - n/a...I made a takeout order so I can't really say SERVICE - 3 stars...not much interaction really TOTAL - 3 stars...I'll just say it was middling RELATED - Exploring the peninsula south of San Francisco? Horrible customer service the waitress that sat us down was extremely rude we asked for a booth she gave it to us but spoke with a horrible attitude saying oh this is usually used for larger parties but it’s fine I’ll give you the seats anyways” mind you the restaurant was slow only 3 tables were being used and then she proceeded to throw the menus at the table instead of handing it to us we got up and left my gf and I have never felt so disrespected never coming here again it was so rude bless the host who kindly apologized for the waitress actions

Shiki has been a go to spot in town for me for at least ten years now. I highly recommend going here, the food is great, servers are great, and the vibe is great. The honey crunch roll is always phenomenal, same with the snow dragon roll. Can't forget the ramen!! I almost always get the pork ramen. Overall you can't go wrong at Shiki. Definitely give it a go!!!

Half Moon Bay has an amazing assortment of little restaurants for such a tiny town. Shiki is a new favorite of mine. The Red Evil roll we had as an appetizer was fabulous and fresh. I had the luncheon Bento box and it exceeded expectations. The service was friendly and distracted (it was the lunch rush). She got the orders out quickly and accurately. We all loved our servings. The ambiance is only enhanced by being in my favorite beach town on the peninsula.

2stars means passable but not recommendedWe got a variety of rolls, entrees, and sides and everything was okay, but nothing was impressive. At least it was inexpensive.

I can't believe I've never reviewed Shiki. I must have eaten here 100 times over the years, mostly for lunch. Their menu hasn't changed much over the years. They added a Poké bowl about 5 years ago, and although it is sometimes overdresssed, it's well made and fairly priced. They also offer freshly ground wasabi, a big plus in my mind. Service is usually very good - there when you need them, not when you don't . The sashimi salad is one of my favorites, as is their ikura, when they have it.

Shiki has been my go-to Sushi spot on HMB for years now, fast service and good amount of seating, though groups more than 6 should plan ahead. The red bean mochi is pretty delicious!

Fantastic time! Great service -- waitress was super friendly, took us less than 10 min to get our food, and the food itself tastes great. It's one of the pricier Japanese places on the coast, but definitely the best. We had the chicken Udon, the spider roll hand roll, and the steak skewers, and it came out to about $40.

Shiki Restaurant in Half Moon Bay has quickly become one of my go-to spots, especially for a midday meal. Lunchtime here is a culinary delight, and I can't emphasize enough how amazing their poke bowl is. Each bite boasts freshness, and it's clear that they use quality ingredients. The ambiance of the place makes me return time and time again. The staff are welcoming, and you can truly sense the passion behind the dishes they serve. The price is also very reasonable! If I had one suggestion, it would be to make the place dog-friendly. Being able to bring my furry friend along would be the cherry on top of an already wonderful experience. Nonetheless, Shiki Restaurant remains a must-visit for anyone in the area. Highly recommend!
