Had a blast at the sports bar catching an NBA game! The array of big screens at this place is mind-blowing – perfect view from every angle. The atmosphere is electric, making it an ideal spot for game nights. Cheers to a sports haven with top-notch vibes!

Says their hours are 10AM-2AM..I got here at 11:50PM they said they were closed and that's the new hours. Outside on the street it smells so bad as If Trash was spilled all over the streets terrible.

Not wasting time here, so read:1) Al Davis, Never owned a bar in Hayward. This was a creation of the Azorean Liar, Tony Fernandes, the owner of this dive since the Stagecoaches.2) Historical, Tony Fernandes, and his wife would marry cheap spirits into expensive brands and charge the higher prices.3) Historically, Tony Fernandes and Family would not store the Kegs at the right temperature of *33 degrees to avoid horrible bacteria to ferment. They do not have a Refrigerator or Walk-in freezer to store the kegs safely.4) They have a History of storing the bottled beers in the kitchen, which is a hot and Hops stifling environment.5) Urinal Cake stinch.6) Is the Fernandes' new generation not notifying the unsuspecting public that the genre was changed? It should be known that the present incarnation of the Stien is a Gay Bar format.

I would've given it 1 star but the beer has been good when we have gone. There's this one bartender that is absolutely rude, and racist I will add. My brother waited while I went to the bathroom never once acknowledged him, even when my brother said hello. He was real quick to serve the white customers. Other bartenders have been great, very open and nice but this guy is a douche. We left didn't even order a beer. Do better . Otherwise when he isn't there it's a great place to go and have a beer and chill.

Decent little dive in downtown Hayward, not far from BART. Friendly service. A pool table in the back. There aren't many decent bar options in Hayward but this is one of the better ones.

My late husband and I have been infrequent visitors to this bar for about 20 years, as it's down the street from The Bistro.A week ago or so, completely random and out-of-blue, the bartender at the time, Diego, went off on me. It completely caught me off guard. He stared me down aggressively and basically told me he never wanted to see me in the bar again (no worries about that Diego!).Prior to this, I've never even had a conversation with him. I have no idea what this is all about, and frankly, I don't care, because it makes no sense and his behavior speaks very badly of this business. Such stupid queen drama.I hope my review makes folk aware and cautious of this guy. I did attempt to speak to Brandon, who is either the owner or part of the family that owns The Stein, about Diego's treatment of me, but he didn't even seem to be concerned and obviously didn't care. It's funny when I think of all the things I've seen here throughout the years that I'm the one that gets 86'd. At 61, another badge of honor to add to my list I suppose :)

This is a great neighborhood bar.Prices are good. Jukebox, TVs, pool table. The bartenders will leave you alone if it seems like that's what you want, and none of them are super in your face unless you're being disruptive in some kind of way. I have seen them act real quick on people being belligerent or shady or scary - which is another reason this bar is awesome - they do take care of their customers by keeping the shi**y people out. If you're looking for a place to have a couple drinks and chill quietly on your own, or, be able to chit chat with people from a bunch of different backgrounds and walks of life, this is the spot. The Stein is a classic neighborhood bar. There's not that many left around, make sure you stop in!

Great neighborhood bar with character. Lots of older sports memorabilia - all the NFL helmets from yesteryear are displayed in the rear of the bar where the pool table is. Crowd does have many locals but the vibe varies from time to time which can make for a fun and sometimes interesting time. The bar tenders are funny guys which adds to the character of the place. Good pit stop along B St for some beers and cocktails.

The Stein Lounge is my favorite dive bar in The Bay. Unpretentious, welcoming and with very competitive prices. I started going over 7 years ago when I moved to Hayward. In this bar I met really cool people that became great friends to me. The regulars are the nicest people you'll meet!I like to go with my best friend after a long day at work for the best dirty martini that I've had (courtesy of Brandon). And as single females we've always felt well taken care of by the staff if someone starts crossing lines.I love to see the diversity of Hayward reflected in the bartenders (Matt, Brandon, Stefan and Diego) that will serve you your drink right away and will keep you conversation if that is what you want, or let you enjoy your drink in silence if you prefer.Always a great time when I stop by!

This past Saturday it was May Day celebrating Asian and pacific island heritage in downtown Hayward. The celebration was beautiful after everything ended we came to have a drink here at stein lounge. My sisters and I use to come here years ago and the bartenders and owners were sooo sweet! The owners an older couple were always so welcoming. Sad to say that the bartenders they have now are RACIST! I couldn't believe they refused to sell to us and wouldn't give us a valid reason. I'd get it if we were wasted and being obnoxiously drunk. On top of it many people outside were telling us they only want to serve their regular white customers. This is unacceptable do better stein lounge. Totally never coming here again and I will be letting everyone I know not to come here!

Dive bar, pull up a stool and get to drinking and socializing. Or be that person who just stares at their drink, not creepy at all... maybe you just need another drink and a hug. Oh dive bars, and this is on the main strip, so def worth a stop if you're crawling hayward.
