Sushis were reasonably priced, big portions and fresh. Bento box combos were big portions and the beef are tender. We definitely are coming back to get food.

Came in expecting basic Japanese but it was anything but, service was quick and friendly even though we came in about 30 minutes before close (sorry😭). Food was amazing, veggie gyoza was on point, takoyaki was solid but not the tradition presentation but still yummy. Tonkatsu was fire, both the normal tuna and the shiro maguro were excellent and clearly very fresh. Also portions are great you definitely feel satisfied and like you paid for what you got.

Kansas hands down is a fantastic value in Hayward for Japanese food and you get very generous portions of food for the price paid! My husband got bento box with tempura and teriyaki beef and I got Chicken Katsu and teriyaki beef. My husband says the tempura is awesome it is not greasy like other tempura he has tried. There is so much in the bento box I don't think we can eat it all in one sitting! The only drawback about Kansai is that it's small and not a big building which I think their business could boom even more for dine in if they expand. My husband and I have been in person a couple of times and it's not very wheel chair friendly but other than that we love Kansai 🥰

Ordered the lunch special (Sushi & Sashimi) for take-out and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size! At $30, I definitely felt I got my money’s worth. I also appreciate the freshness and thick cut of the sushi and appreciate that the California roll packed in crab meat (not just the fake kani meat). The meal also comes with a soup and salad, which is a classic complement to a Japanese lunch special.
Would definitely order again and may even stop in for a meal sometime!
This is my friend and I's go to for lunch near work. We love the Katie 2 and the bento lunch specials. The server isn't attentive, rarely comes to ask if we need anything or to refill the water. We always need go find her to get our check or ask for to go items, but the one in the evening is kind and she is very cheerful.
We keep coming back for the food, service is ehhh but food is good.

My party of 8 arrived kind of late and we weren't aware of how small the restaurant was, but they were happy and able to accommodate us ASAP. We got a peach and strawberry soju, potato croquettes, gyoza, and edamame as appetizers, which were PHENOMENAL. The Edamame was soft and cooked perfectly with a little flaky salt. The salmon sashimi came with 5 pieces, and they were all at least 2 inches long and an inch thick!!! Delightfully fresh and needed two bites. The Wasabi put on top tasted like the real thing!!!! Not paste. My 'Ryan' roll was exquisite!!! I have never had a roll so good. I sampled other rolls, and I didn’t eat a roll I didn't like. They gave us complimentary miso soup which tasted absolutely wonderful. I am from North Texas and my standards for sushi have been raised ten-fold. I will be dreaming about this restaurant!!!!
