Came in expecting basic Japanese but it was anything but, service was quick and friendly even though we came in about 30 minutes before close (sorry😭). Food was amazing, veggie gyoza was on point, takoyaki was solid but not the tradition presentation but still yummy. Tonkatsu was fire, both the normal tuna and the shiro maguro were excellent and clearly very fresh. Also portions are great you definitely feel satisfied and like you paid for what you got.

Kansas hands down is a fantastic value in Hayward for Japanese food and you get very generous portions of food for the price paid! My husband got bento box with tempura and teriyaki beef and I got Chicken Katsu and teriyaki beef. My husband says the tempura is awesome it is not greasy like other tempura he has tried. There is so much in the bento box I don't think we can eat it all in one sitting! The only drawback about Kansai is that it's small and not a big building...
